Anime DVD/BD Sales in Japan

Magical Mirai hits ~10.5k, yay.

Due to being late and needing to get to work I’ll be doing an abbreviated version of the comments first. I’ll update later today when I have time for everything.

Winter update:
Yakuindomo* v1 adds 470 BDs, total 4,095.

Fall update:
Infinite Stratos 2 v4 sells 10441/2527, total 12,968.

LitBus Refrain sells 7666/1440, total 9,106. I’m not sure this will hit 10k, because even v1 only added 864 after wk1 which would put this ever so slightly short. Monthly may bump it over the line though.

Non Non v3 sells 6714/698, total 7,412. I’d love to see it get down to only about a 5% drop from v2. That’d increase my confidence of keeping a safe 7k average, though 8k is possible too.

Strike the Blood v2 sells 4348/1002, total 5,350. With this looking like it could have consistent sales, 5k is possible. Dare we imagine three Silver Link shows in a row averaging above 5k? (Illya, Non Non, and maybe this)

Valvrave s2 v3 sells 3045/967, total 4,012.

Log Horizon v2 sells 3031/784, total 3,815, about 7% higher than v1wk1. On pace to at least match it if it can rank again. I was one of those who started importing after v1 came out so I guess this boost is from late deciders like me.

Machine Doll v3 sells 3025/772, total 3,797.

Magi s2 v2 sells 1531/2409, total 3,940.

White Album 2 v3 sells 3,011, BD-only release.

NagiAsu v3 sells 2,717 BDs, DVDs do not rank. It looks like a drop because of the DVDs not ranking but this is only 80 BD copies below v2, so the event ticket drop is essentially non-existent. Should be consistent from here on out, I’d think! 4k average will be tough but it’s possible.

Freezing s2 v3 sells 1726/595, total 2,321.

Tokyo Ravens v3 sells 1,531 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Yuushibu v3 sells 1,402 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Walkure v3 sells 1,360 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Blazblue v3 sells 1,083 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Noucome v3 sells 920 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Golden Time v3 sells 783 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Coppelion v4 sells 280 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Kurobas v2 adds 1948/2515, total 18,613. Woah there’s those huge second weeks we’re used to. Now only 4.2% below v1, it could drop tat to about 2% with ranking next week. This also gives it a solid shot at taking #1 of Fall, even despite IS2’s pseudo-OVA boost. It[‘ll basically guaranteed top IS2’s v2+ average.

Kill La Kill v2 adds 309 BDs, total 9,319.

Yowapedal v3 adds 776/918 DVDs, total 6,512.

Summer update:
Monogatari v5 sells 31738/3948, total 35,686. No magical Nadeko bump this time, mostly just happened in Bake because the TV broadcast was an unfinished production nightmare and the BD contained the finished eps, presumably.

Kinmosa v6, final volume, sells 5248/506, total 5,754. Series average: 6,527 and should end right around 6550 or so.

Roukyuubu! SS v6, final volume, sells 3159/730, total 3,889. Series average: 4,066.

Neptune sells 3527/567, total 4,094 BDs. The final volume should see a decent boost due to the nendroid. Stalker’s estimates for v5 were 2819/654 and 2844/688 for v6. In both cases, BDs were ~25% underestimated. v7 meanwhile is estimated at 4244/1741, about 2.5x higher on DVD and 1.5x higher on BD. We could see a 6k, maybe even 7k v7. That’d bump the average all the way up to about 5k from the current 4.45k.

BroCon v7, final volume, sells 1902/3221, total 5,123. Series average: 6,346

Tamayura v5 sells 3,376 BDs, DVDs do not rank. It’s been very consistent so it’s pretty much a lock to stay over 4k once the final volume is out. Probably around 4.2k. It ended up being very comparable to s1’s 4.8k average.

SerxSer v7, final volume, sells 2984/2000, total 4,984. Huge bump (89.7% versus previous volume wk1) because it includes the live event. The disc is even listed as サーバント×サービス　７　＋　鯖祭　２０１３ on Oricon which is unusual. So it’s as much a live event disc as a disc of the show I guess.

Dangan Ronpa v7, final volume, sells 2192/1223, total 3,415 DVDs, BDs on Thursday. Series average: 3,944.

KimiMachi v6, final volume, sells 1470/1672, total 3,142. Current series average: 3,510.

Kaminomi v6, final volume, sells 1,717 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 1,628.

Love Lab v6 sells 1,633 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Gen’ei Taiyou v6 sells 516 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Past seasons:
Railgun S v8, final volume, sells 12421/2050, total 14,471.
v7 adds 308 BDs, total 15,849 in wk5, meaning it added 101 in wk4.
It’ll add a bit more but so far, series average: 16,475

Shingeki v8 adds 2603/1564, total 35,828.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Hakuouki Movie 1 sells 7292/513 LE/RE BDs and 7763/1125 LE/RE DVDs, total 16,693. Maybe 20k total in the end?

WUG Movie sells 5523/3075 LE/Theater, total 8,598. This sold more than expected due to there being a second version sold on the official website that was reported to Oricon. People who saw the movie in theaters got a code and a chance to order. Still, better than expected is… nonetheless really low for a late night movie, given 5523 of those were sold dirt cheap and the others didn’t cost much either.

Hetalia TBW Extra Disc sells 3,397.

Madoka Movies 1-2 adds 278 LE BDs, total 108,235

Natsume OVA adds 426 BDs, total 24,508.

Chuunibyou Rikka Kai adds 1028 BDs, total 10,438.
