This is one of those weeks where almost everything just feels like it’s sold a notch below what it should have. Sometimes that means wk2s will be bigger than expected, but not always.
Winter update:
Overlord s2 v1 sells 5338/740, total 6,078. 5.7%/44.3% overestimated. On pace to drop by about half from s1.
Darlifra v1 sells 5202/710, total 5,912. 7.9% under/4.6% overestimated.
Hakumei to Mikochi v1 sells 3403/650, total 4,053. 11.9%/4.3% overestimated. Event ticket. Being overestimated even with the high price penalty is quite unusual, the unpenalized estimate was 7,045. This must have been wildly Amazon-biased.
Nanatai s3 v1 sells 766/876, total 1,642. 147.5% underestimated on DVD, BD not fully tracked by stalker. Event ticket.
Hakata Tonkotsu v1 sells 938/393, total 1,331. 22.7%/57.7% overestimated. Event ticket.
Damepri v1 sells 771/289, total 1,060. 43.8%/49.0% underestimated. Event ticket.
Toji no Miko v1 sells 832/177, total 1,009. 26.1% under/45.7% overestimated. Event ticket.
Marchen Madchen v1 sells 388, BD-only release. 0.5% underestimated.
Idolish7 v3 sells 8691/5608, total 14,299. There’s that big post-ticket drop.
Yorimoi v2 sells 8067/585, total 8,652. 1k better than v1’s opening but given how supply constrained v1 was, I thought this would do better – more like 9.5k wk1. Whether it’s just because this week is low across the board or the event ticket had slightly more effect than I expected (v2 has one as well but first tickets always do better) I might need to slightly lower my expectations for its average to a bit below 9k. Which is still amazing, just a bit less than I’d hoped after v1. It’s also now less clear if it’ll be #3 or #4 seller of the season.
Ryuuou v2 sells 1,990 as a BD-only release.
Gakuen Babysitters v2 sells 632/770, total 1,402.
Death March v2 sells 1,376 as a BD-only release.
Slow Start v2 sells 1,282 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Houshin Engi v2 sells 556/420, total 976.
Mitsuboshi Colors v2 sells 598 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Tourabu Hanamaru s2 v2 adds 442/431, total 9,475.
Evergarden v1 adds 648 BDs, total 7,575.
Fall update:
LL Sunshine s2 v5 sells 30,814.

Osomatsu-san s2 v5 sells 3271/2907, total 6,178.
Itsudatte 10cm v2, final volume, sells 1475/1703, total 3,178. Series average: 3,001.
Gintama Porori v4 sells 1429/1369, total 2,798.
Kino no Tabi 2017 v3m final volume, sells 2,437. Series average: 2,617.

3-gatsu s2 v3 sells 1292/353, total 1,645.
Just Because v5 sells 1,490 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Juuni Taisen v5 sells 648/484, total 1,132.
WUG Shin-shou v3 sells 1,059 as a BD-only release.
Code:Realize v5 sells 471/379, total 850.
Sho-bitch v5, final volume, sells 463 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 493.
Kekkaisen s2 v5 adds 413 BDs, total 5,621.
Past seasons:
Ballroom v6, final volume, sells 678 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 912.
Granblue v6 adds 362 DVDs, total 50,548.
v7, final volume, adds 458 DVDs, total 56,391. Series average: 50,375.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Steins;Gate BD Box sells 2,190. This is the third round of re-releases, all told it’s sold 13,236 in boxes, nearly equaling its 16,671 singles average.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo BD Box sells 2,115.
FMP Director’s Cut Movie 3 sells 1,955 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Haikara-san Movie 1 sells 1217/307 BDs, 223/257 DVDs, total 2,004.
Starmyu BD Box sells 619.
Da Capo II BD Box sells 329. Contains s1 and s2 of DCII.
Joukamachi BD Box sells 315.
Garupan Finale I adds 648 BDs, total 67,189. Still about 2k short of Anzio, despite starting much higher. Of course, Anzio ranked for 105 weeks and this is Finale’s 6th week. Not that Finale will rank for 105 weeks of course… but it could pass Anzio still.
Nanoha Reflection adds 768 SLE BDs, total 36,129.
Free Take Your Marks adds 783/418, total 13,120.

So Franxx is the lowest selling mecha anime from Aniplex thus far. Since its 2-cour it’ll definitely average between 3k to 4k by the end of its run.
when will you post sales prediction for spring anime
Maybe this weekend. I was waiting for more shows to get solicited, and for everything to get a few weeks under their belts. There are still some unsolicited shows (like Hisone to Masotan) but I guess we have most of them now, including all the ones that are likely to sell.
Just a word of warning that Uma Musume’s estimate is going to be hilariously inaccurate and broken because it’s in the middle of a huge boost thanks to the announcement of it including Granblue Fantasy mobage codes.
Is there any spring anime likely to sell more than 10k average
At the moment, I wouldn’t categorize anything as “likely”. The only show with an estimate touching 10k right now (ignoring Uma Musume and its unique circumstances) is FMP if you take the unpenalized estimate (which you shouldn’t). That’s at 5,857 – 10,660 which is probably better thought of as about 7k.
There’s a bunch of major franchises with entries this season but they’re all hovering around the 4-8k range. And none of the new (well, new to anime) franchises are making a splash. Again, that’s setting aside Uma Musume which we might as well rename Granblue Fantasy: Horsegirl DLC at this point. Though to be fair it also had maybe the best estimate of any new franchise before the mobage code reveal, but we were still probably talking about 3.5k or so.
And this is all just about v1s. Averages will be lower.
Are we sure gbf codes will be enough to push it horsegirls new heights, Bahamuto had them but it didnt seem to do noticeably remarkable.
We are not! That’s why I say its estimate is broken and inaccurate. It’s not -actually- going to sell 12k-20k like its current estimate says. I expect the actual boost will be much smaller than the crazy rankings at the moment imply.
Bahamut added about 1k to its average, arguably, thanks to the code boost. But those codes also came later in its life, and from what I hear didn’t include as much stuff as Uma Musume’s codes do. At the very least, Bahamut never got as big of a boost as Uma Musume already has. So I think Uma Musume will get more out of the codes than Bahamut did, but I don’t know how much more (tho certainly not ~10x as much).
Overlord 6k sales its okey right? e_e
not bad, considering that it will only be 3 BR, possibly reach 8 thousand
Are that sorts of sale numbers seem okay for Hakumei? I mean, it is a blu-ray box hence contained more episode from your normal volume format and being more expensive too, and yet managed to rake in 3k, which is quite similar to Made in abyss that succeeded in taking 5k, and people commonly referred to that amount as a success.
Love Live seems to be selling even lower as time passed on or is it still in a safe position, in your opinion?
::insert usual caveat about how “good” depends on what the committee expected, which is something we can’t know::
That aside, a low-key slice of life show debuting at 4k is always a solid performance, relative to what we expect these shows to sell. It’s certainly more than I would have expected it to sell, even if it came in oddly low compared to Stalker’s estimates.
As for Sunshine s2, it’s gonna average >40k and be one of the top 20 best-selling shows since 2000 so if that’s not a safe position, nothing is. It’s not performing as well as Sunshine S1 or LL S2 even though it went nuts with six event tickets, but it’s one of the last franchises anyone should feel the need to worry about.
All right, thanks as usual!
I looked at Gundam Build Divers release date and it’s in September at least 2 months after everything else from the spring releases. Is there any reason for this?
There are some releases in August, and Lost Song also releases in September. Like Lost Song, Build Divers is releasing a cour box set, not 2-4 episode singles. It’s still pretty late – most other boxed series are starting at least a month earlier – but not totally outside the realm of normalcy. Perhaps they’re also be leaving extra time to produce the gunpla kits it comes with, because they need more lead time on those.
I They said they had around 20-30 Gunpla kits planned so that would make sense.
So Yuru Camp v2 didn’t show up in the statistics?
It had like 13k units sold for v1 but I guess v2 sunk?
Yikes.
Yurucamp v2 isn’t out yet. Doesn’t release until May 23.
*opps, it had 5/25/18 release date…
I’m guessing Violet Evergarden isn’t ranking anymore?
The preliminary threshold on the BD charts was 1,282 so it would be pretty wild for it to have sold more than that in its fourth week. If it ranks again it’ll be in the full list later in the week.
Ah I see. Thanks for the info!
Wow Free! TYM fell off the blu ray top 20 already…
>Marchen Madchen v1 sells 388, BD-only release. 0.5% underestimated.
This is kind of sad. I know it had massive production problems and the reception was terrible, but with that art, it didn’t deserve a fate like this. Especially after all the franchise went through (after all, the author died before the novels were even released).
How do analyse Takagi-san sales?
They’re solidly above average. That’s about all we can say – but I assume the committee is happy enough. Whether the show as a whole is a success depends on many other factors as well, which we don’t have good data for.
How is Comic Girls doing, or is it to early to say?
It won’t sell anything. We’re back to normal for recent Kirara adaptations after the Yurucamp anomaly.
Well Comic girls just doesnt feel anythin special to me personnaly just kinda your average good enough to kill time moe anime. Kinda like Slow start was previous season.
what are the sales predictions for alternative gun gale anime
4,146 v1wk1 at the moment. Definitely nowhere near the main series.
thank you for the info
Still no sign of the full list for this week.
Full list went up, thankfully.
Violet is having a pretty impressive run. What do you think is the reason?
Still not live up to the hype as Kyoani award winner
