Anime DVD/BD Sales in Japan

Winter update:
Idolish7 v2 adds 969/1299, total 31,499.

Yurucamp v1 adds 409 BDs, total 14,063. Added 132 DVDs in wk2 via the per-series rankings.

Yorimoi v1 adds 597 BDs, total 10,106. Per-series ranking added 176 DVDs to wk2, meaning helllllllllll yeah 10k. What a truly surreal gift it is to see a show like this get commercially rewarded. And in the same season Yurucamp becomes the second strongest slice of life show post-K-ON. I’ll never see a season where my #1-2 do this well ever again.

VEG v1 adds 799/155, total 6,532.

Takagi-san v1 adds 326 BDs, total 6,480.

Pop Team Epic v3, final volume, adds 173 BDs, total 5,657. Series average: 5,805.

 
Fall update:
LL Sunshine s2 v4 adds 938, total 37,324.

Imas SideM v4 adds 206 BDs, total 12,227.

Osomatsu-san s2 v4 adds 154 DVDs, total 9,666.

v7, final volume, adds 175/408, total 55,607. Series average: 50,019. I’d been waiting for one of the BDs to come back onto the rankings, and bam there it is, v7 fills in 13 weeks of data and over 2k discs and pushes Granblue over 50k.
This is bonkers. Fully 31.8% of Granlue’s sales are after wk1, and if you look at DVD (the version with the long tail because it’s the cheaper way to get the mobage codes) that’s a staggering 43.4%. And if you look at the ranking count gaps between DVD and BD, there’s still room to fill in a lot of discs, should any of the other BDs rank again. v2-6 all have roughly 20 weeks each of BDs that could be filled in, and v1 has probably about the same (unclear how many weeks its current number covers since it comes from the yearly ranking). *If* we had current data for all of the BDs, it could come close to Shingeki’s 52k and possibly move up to #11 since 2000.

 
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Nanoha Reflection sells 25991/3117/1896 BDs, 1571 DVDs, total 32,575. I’m not going to say that’s bad, but the s1 and s2 recap films from 8 and 5 years ago did 84k and 79k wk1s. Time changes a lot.

Persona 4 s1 + Golden BD Box sells 1,314.

Garupan Finale I adds 1134/291, total 65,590. Just 3.5k to go to pass the Anzio OVA (which ranked for 105 weeks).

NGNL Zero adds 202 LE BDs, total 40,719.
