Winter update:
VEG v1 sells 5019/559, total 5,578. 16.2%/23.3% overestimated. Event ticket. I actually thought it would be noticeably underestimated due to ranking well at Animate, but I guess all the Animate sales did was (partially) offset the bias towards the Amazon-exclusive on Amazon. Still ended up overestimated vs the 6,720 estimate.
citrus v1 sells 1124/253, total 1,377. 1.0% under/28.1% overestimated.
Idolish7 v2 adds 686/1117, total 29,231.
Yurucamp v1 adds 1015 BDs, total 13,522.
Yorimoi v1 adds 1705 BDs, total 9,333. Pleased with that wk2, since for whatever reason besides a small restock at HMV, only Amazon actually got any stock in – so its ranking there was definitely inflated over the past week. But 1.7k BDs on a 7k BD start is strong. I’m not ready to say 10k v1 but it could be close if it has a decent wk3. It’s still hanging onto decent rankings so maybe 500 more next week?
Takagi-san v1 adds 888/266, total 6,154.
Pop Team Epic v3, final volume, adds 375 BDs, total 5,484. Series average: 5,748.
Ryuuou v1 adds 276, total 2,670.
Death March v1 adds 320 BDs, total 1,827.
Fall update:
LL Sunshine s2 v4 adds 1413 BDs, total 36,386.
Imas SideM v4 adds 821/309, total 12,021. Seems on track for a 14-15k average.
Osomatsu-san s2 v4 adds 714/738m total 9,512.
Past seasons:
Granblue v1 adds 182 DVDs, total 61,414.
v5 adds 199 DVDs, total 43,437.
v6 adds 325 DVDs, total 49,538.
v7, final volume, adds 337 DVDs, total 53,171.
Series average: 49,068. That v1 reappearance filled in 9 weeks and about 1.5k discs alone. It’s been a little while since we last saw v5 too.
Fate/Apocrypha v2, final volume, adds 370, total 5,633. Series average: 6,179.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Garupan Finale I adds 1888/372, total 64,165.
Shinmai Maou Departures adds 275 BDs, total 3,611.
Upcoming Releases for 2018 04/09 – 04/15
2018/04/11 Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha: Reflection
2018/04/11 Persona 4 BD Box
What are the chances GBF will hit 50k average?
That’s another ~7000 discs. Normally that would be laughably impossible this late after release, but, jeeze, I dunno. It might actually do it. v2-4 ranking again and filling in missing weeks would account for a modest chunk of that (probably over 2000). And if any of the BDs rank again, that could fill in a bit too. Still a stretch, but…
GBF showing how you do Videogame tie in animes. It was like a perfect timed anime too, not so far late into the game’s life that it was trying to “save” the game like how I guess that company that does PAD is trying to double down on recovering PAD numbers. Having good collabs, vas, and art etc probably helped gbf too. Probably also surprising that it isnt even an idol game reliant on musics.

Was Osomatsu really a bomb like that recent ANN article of a manga authors comments says, the sales here seem commendable.
“Bomb” relative to what? Compared to your average anime? Definitely not. Compared to the committee’s expectations? Unknowable. Compared to the first season? Oh my god yes absolutely, this is a Shingeki-level implosion of catastrophic proportions.
The only one of these that truly matters is the second, however, and unless the committee members who relied on disc sales say anything publically, we will never know the answer for sure. The only thing I’d be willing to bet money on is that they almost certainly didn’t expect the DVD/BD revenue stream to drop as much as it has.
Wow, +1.7k wk2 for Yori, it’s approaching 10k. Didn’t expect that. Yuru Camp also got +1k. Nice.
I wonder if Violet only got big hypes in the west and not in Japan after seeing this sales. Btw, I often heard the word ‘Kyoani Shop’ on forums, that the sales from there is not tracked by oricon. How many BDs exactly do they sell there?
Since they don’t report to Oricon, the true numbers are unknown, but it’s speculated that the sales from there are not high anyway: maybe a hundred or a couple of hundred are most. Most probably don’t even know the store exists so they’d rather buy from stores they’re more familiar with, like Amazon and Animate.
“KyoAni shop” often gets invoked as if it’s a magical spell that mysteriously results in all of their shows doing much better than is reported, but there’s no evidence one way or another to indicate how many discs they sell, or to suggest that their shows suffer from under-reporting to a significantly larger degree than is already normal for Oricon’s reports.
