Summer update:
Hitorijime v1 sells 632/1005, total 1,637. 7.7% under/19.1% overestimated. Event ticket.

Isekai Shokudou v1 sells 1242/292, total 1,534. 28.5%/48.8% overestimated. Yeah, figured it would come in well under estimates considering its Amazon ver got so many points.

Isekai wa Smartphone v1 sells 970/354, total 1,324. 25.5% under/13.0% overestimated. Event ticket.

Spring update:
Shingeki no Bahamut s2 v1 sells 3,434. 15.6% overestimated. This is an odd release. s1 was 4 BDs and then a DVD box. This is 4 BDs and 4 DVDs, but the DVDs come out a few weeks later than the BDs, and cost 1/4th the price. We’ll see if the first DVD ranks in mid-October.

Kyoukai no Rinne s3 v1 sells 137 as a DVD-only release. 65.1% underestimated.

Frame Arms Girl v3 sells 9,546. Looks like they manufactured more plamo kits for this volume.

Starmyu s2 v4 sells 1959/1139, total 3,098.

Clockwork Planet v4 sells 492 BDs, DVDs do no rank.

Granblue v5 adds 265 DVDs, total 33,172.

;_; It was such a nice anime.

  2. Tables says:

    >figured it would come in well under estimates considering its Amazon ver got so many points
Can you expand a bit why that is? Did people just cancel their preorder on the other version?

    • something says:

Nope, not cancellations or anything. Stalker’s estimates are based exclusively on Amazon (using that as a baseline to extrapolate out to overall sales), so anything that makes Amazon’s share of the overall sales disproportionately large will makes Stalker’s estimate too high.

And one way that Amazon claims a higher share of sales than usual is if their store exclusive version sells well. In Isekai Shokudou’s case, as much of the estimate came from the Amazon version as from the normal version. Typically when this happens, we can expect the release to be overestimated, and so it was here.

It’ll be very interesting to see how this plays out with the SAO movie next week. The Amazon exclusive was a very large percentage of its total estimate: 84,796 of 135,875 (62%).

Normally I’d expect that to mean a massive overestimation. But SAO ranked extremely well at other stores too, including the big one, Animate. That can offset a lot of what would normally be overestimation. So I actually have no idea if Stalker is way too high or actually pretty accurate this time.

      • cocoa_hoto says:

Do you think Princess Principal is being overestimated since Amazon version of BD has about 50% pt of normal version?

        • something says:

Not necessarily, all told the Amazon version is 33% of its points. That’s not insignificant, but not an instant overestimation either. Particularly given how well Pripri has ranked at other shops, including some solid top 50 time at Animate.

Now, Pripri’s daily ranking on 9/26 (pre-sale day, so mostly online preorders) was… really bad. #24 on BD, below even Re:Creators (so sub-2k). But this is one case where it’s quite reasonable to guess that Oricon made some kind of mistake. The most likely explanation is that Amazon didn’t report pre-sale numbers for it yet (maybe Symphogear too, which also seems quite low compared to reasonable expectations), which would indeed kill its pre-sale day rankings.

As long as they get this sorted out by the weekly list, though, weirdness in the dailies won’t matter.

  3. BlackPoint says:

Whew next week gonna be big sux for the low sellers cuz we will miss out on em….

    • something says:

We should be okay there. The Biz leaks have been pretty good about getting us v1s outside the top 100, so we’ll at least get that. I mean, unless they sold SO LITTLE that they didn’t even make the top 300.

The leaks sometimes don’t all come out until the full list but I imagine we’ll see v1 data for pretty much all the new series.

  4. Siliziumleben says:

“Shingeki no Bahamut s2 v1 sells 3,434. 15.6% overestimated. This is an odd release. s1 was 4 BDs and then a DVD box. This is 4 BDs and 4 DVDs, but the DVDs come out a few weeks later than the BDs, and cost 1/4th the price. We’ll see if the first DVD ranks in mid-October.”

I think the DVD release is also amazon exclusive and printed on demand on DVD-R.

  5. Tuna says:

Thats it for Bahamut Virgin Souls, I thought Granblue fans would have rushed to get it since it comes with playable Nina and a 10 draw ticket.

  6. charan says:

How much do you think SAO movie will sell next week

    • something says:

Stalker’s estimate is 135k wk1, but that includes 2/3rds of the points coming from the Amazon-exclusive version, whch is usually a sign to expect major overestimation. However, it’s done very well at other retailers too, which might be able to offset that.

But it’s a huge unknown right now. Even if Stalker is only over by 20% (which wouldn’t be a terrible estimate) that’d take 135k down to 108k.

So I dunno. Maybe Animate ranking offsets the Amz-exclusive skewing. Maybe not? I could honestly see any number between 90,000 and 150,000 and think “okay yeah that was definitely within the realm of possibility”.

      • charan says:

100k sales for SAO movie is good or bad when compared to other movies

        • something says:

It’d be outstanding, especially as first week sales. I don’t think it’ll reach the 200k+ of Garupan or LL but it’s not *completely* impossible. But until we see those wk1 sales it’s mostly blind guesses.

  7. ags-vmr says:

I have no idea what to make of Bahamut’s sales. On one hand, Virgin Soul shoud beat the first volume sales of Genesis. On the other hand, the volume contains six episodes and seemed to be priced on the lower end of the spectrum. Throw in the really late DVD announcement, and the situation becomes really perplexing. It’ll be interesting to see what the falloff for the later volumes looks like.

  8. Lolicon says:

So, Hirune-Hime got a DVD only release, there’s no BD data or it was just a <483 sale? Also, waiting for Kimi no Na Wa data. Thanks!

    • something says:

This is the second week for Hirune-hime, the first week was last week. It was released on both DVD and BD. It’ll probably get a second week on BD when the full weekly list is out. Normally that’s Thursday but sometimes it takes until Friday so it’ll probably be available when I get home and look for it. But it won’t be adding much.

As for Kimi no Na wa, the RE does most of the sales and both DVD and BD REs already ranked this week. The two LE versions may add a couple hundred each in the full list.
