New v1s this week that were below thresholds or not reported:
2017/08/23 Atom: The Beginning v1
2017/08/25 Onihei
2017/08/25 Room Mate
2017/08/25 Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni… [likely not covered by Oricon]
Summer update:
Saiyuuki sells 2301/1680, total 3,981. 59.8%/26.3% underestimated. Event ticket. I thought this might be super underestimated and compete at a >5k level but I guess not.
Jigoku Shoujo s4 v1 sells 811 BDs, DVDs do not rank. 48.1% overestimated. Not surprised, noticed last night its 1.5k estimate on Amazon was almost entirely the Amazon-exclusive edition.
Katsugeki Tourabu v2 sells 8182/2991, total 11,173. How odd. This is barely any higher than I’d have expected if it had no ticket at all. It’s higher than v1wk1, but v1wk2 was abnormally large so presumably this vol would be more front-loaded anyway. Maybe it’ll have a big wk2 again but even 15k for the ticket volume seems a stretch while Hanamaru’s event ticket did 23k.
v1 adds 368 BDs, total 14,017. 4 discs shy of the lowest Hanamaru volume now.
Spring update:
Twin Angel Break sells 867. BD-only, one-shot release, so Series Average: 867.
Granblue v5 sells 17081/10698, total 27,779.
v4 adds 312 BDs, total 34,206.
Saekano s2 v2 sells 6246/720, total 6,966. Definitely no chance of this being a 10k title now. While this isn’t much below s1v2wk1, s1 added another 2.5k in wk2+ while s2 is front-loaded and will only add a few hundred more.
Eromanga-sensei v3 sells 5688/681, total 6,369.
Natsume s6 v3 sells 2550/1407, total 3,957.
Starmyu s2 v3 sells 2298/1336, total 3,634. This is where the big drop kicks in. How much of one depends on wk2+.
sin Nanatai v3 sells 2121/456, total 2,577.
Re:Creators v3 sells 1,910 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Akashic Records v3 sells 1402/402, total 1,804.
Haine v3 sells 698/906, total 1,604.
Sukasuka v3 sells 1,355 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Sword Oratoria v3 sells 1,241 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Hinako Note v2 sells 1,058 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Busou Shoujo v3 sells 778 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Clockwork Planet v3 sells 570 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Frame Arms v2 adds 425, total 8,403.
Shingeki s2 v2, final volume, adds 668 BDs, total 6,828. Series average: 7,410.
Past seasons:
Bang Dream v4 sells 2,975. BD-only release.
3-gatsu v4, final volume, sells 1912/620, total 2,532. Series average: 2,490. Not that it means much but this was extremely consistent. Only 12 copies separate the high and low across v2-4. v1 was a little lower, but by less than 150 discs.
Demi-chan v6 sells 1,292 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Fuuka v6, final volume, sells 1167/359, total 1,526. Series average: 1,670.
Marginal#4 v6, final volume, sells 757/391, total 1,148. Series average: 1,958.
Rewrite s2 v5 sells 1,141 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Urara v6, final volume, sells 612 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 878.
Masamune-kun v6, final volume, sells 593 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 954.
Schoolgirl Strikers v6 sells 468 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
All Out v8, final volume, sells 326 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 588.
Chaos;Child v6, final volume, sells 300 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 333.
Maidragon v6 adds 457 BDs, total 3,241.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Kuroshitsuji Movie sells 10270/817 BDs, 7947/1158 DVDs, total 20,192. Not nearly as underestimated as the recent TV series or OVA, though still a third higher than the 15k estimate.

Onihei didn’t make it even into Biz leaks? :(
Take heart. It got all that Amazon money. I know how you feel. Unfortunately, shows like Onihei mostly bomb in disc sales. ;_;
Thanks! It’s really sad. At least it had TV rating of 1.07%, which is somewhat okay compared to some other shows.
Not that I saw, but the leaks are sometimes incomplete on Tuesdays.
I see, thank you! Then I will be hoping to see 100-200 discs in the full ranking.
Huh, with all those seiyuu, I expected better for KatsuRabu v2. Oh well, it’s still doing OK and that’s what matters.
Oh Starmyu. <3 Did about as I expected it to. If it can go over 4k next week, that would be great!
Are the seiyuu for Katsugeki different/less popular than the Hanamaru ones? I guess I assumed they were the same ones. And Tourabu events are pretty darn popular. I have no idea why this did so relatively poorly…
Like others said, it looks like fans in Japan just didn’t like this anime and preferred Hanamaru. Darn…
So strange for ToukenRanbu unless the franchise is starting to show signs its past its peak.
Why no Yagen fans buy this event ticket :( Im sad. Were people not interested in Kane-san either.
The franchise is still freaking popular, the collab with Granblue is getting so much attention and the stage plays are selling great, it just means that fans aren’t really interested in this adaptation, seems to be the tradition for anime adaptation based on DMM games to have mediocre results
Like yareyare said, the stage plays and other parts are doing really well, and I guess they just didn’t like this adaptation. It’s sad, but what can we do?
Tbh, I thought Katsugeki Touken Ranbu will sell more than Hanamaru but I don’t really care, I still love this Touken Ranbu more than Hanamaru. But I’m not sure why it’s not selling, so weard. What do the game fans of Touken Ranbu think of Katsugeki? Do anyone knows?
No idea what they think. Have to check some blogs to see the general opinion but I can’t read Japanese, I only know a little.
Can you link it to me, I don’t know Japanese but I will try to translate it from Google san.
So I had Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni… on my list since Stalker/Amazon covered it, but I don’t see it in Oricon’s database, so most likely they won’t be reporting on it.
I’m guessing the most explicit version of the show is what made it onto disc, and I guess that puts it in hentai territory? Oricon doesn’t cover hentai, which may explain it not being covered.
That’s interesting. If your guess is right, then I would assume that this season’s Skirt no Naka will be treated the same way. Do you know where these are airing? It’s been a while since we had back-to-back seasons with what I would call soft-core hentai. I figured these were web only but I can never count out late night tv to surprise me.
Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita. – http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/4634/time
• Tokyo MX (normal TV)
• Niconico (online streaming)
• AT-X (pay channel)
Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni… – http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/4543/time
• Tokyo MX (normal TV)
• AT-X (pay channel)
• Not listed, but digital rental via ComicFesta AnimeZone
I assume Kedamono’s three versions are Tokyo MX and Niconico censored, with AT-X uncensored. Maybe Niconico is less censored than MX? I don’t know how porny this one gets.
Souryo is censored Tokyo MX, less censored AT-X, uncensored digital rentals.
I don’t see Kedamono in Oricon’s database either, so it likely also will not get reported.
Well I only watched the first 3 episodes of Souryo just to see how far it would go so I don’t know quite how much they had to censor it beyond exposed breasts. Kedamono has close ups of the MC’s….. naughty parts ;-) with a guys fingers in there so…… it’s pretty porny. Interesting it is indeed late-night, even if censored.
You may have commented on this already, but I recall Natsume being remarkably consistent in its first 4, maybe even 5 seasons. Do you have any idea why season six is not even close to the sales of the others?
The drop-off started with s5:
10,872 – Natsume Yuujin-chou (2008)
10,387 – Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou (2009) 1y
10,535 – Natsume Yuujin-chou San (2011) 2y
9,400 – Natsume Yuujin-chou Shi (2012) 1y
6,148 – Natsume Yuujin-chou Go (2016) 4y
~4-4.5k – Natsume Yuujin-chou Roku (2017) 1y
Natsume came in three phases. s1-2 came first and had just about identical sales. They didn’t wait too long before s3-4, which held really well.
But then they waited four years for the third round, with s5-6. I think it’s just been a long time and people are moving on. They series has been getting adapted for 9 years now, and six seasons is a lot to buy. I mean, for example, I imported seasons 1-3 (or 1-4, I forget and am not near my imports spreadsheet) but while I still enjoy the show, I felt no real need to buy s5-6.
That it held up as well as it did as long as it did (and is still above average even now) is already remarkable.
I didn’t realize there was a 4 year gap between s4 and s5, that certainly seems to be the main cause.
Might you know where I can find the numbers for Seikaisuru Kado? I think V2 was coming out this week and I know you don’t report it but I’m very curious about its sales, it was such a bizarre project (though seeing how V1 doesn’t seem to have made the top 20, my guess is “terrible” to put it kindly)
Your guess is pretty accurate: http://dvdbd.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/%E6%AD%A3%E8%A7%A3%E3%81%99%E3%82%8B%E3%82%AB%E3%83%89%20KADO%EF%BC%9AThe%20Right%20Answer
Thanks, not surprised at all, it was such an odd production. I’m forever mystified how Toei approved such a bizarre pitch to become their big Anniversary commemoration project
Well, it did not that bad on TV. 1.09% is better than LWA 2nd cour, Sakura Quest and Tsuki ga Kirei.
Updated with the full list.
Katsugeki Touken Ranbu would’ve sold more if Mikazuki Munechika was the Protoganist and it was more serious. Since people expect a dark show with alot of action coming from Ufotable.
