Summer update:
Days v1 sells 760/1250, total 2,010. 71.2/32.4% underestimated. Event ticket.
Boueibu s2 v2 sells 1383/1806, total 3,189. Big drop from v1 (5.4k) considering s1 actually had increasing wk1s until the last volume. Outside of s1v1 it’s always had short tails so this may not even rank again, putting it 49% down on v1.
LL Sunshine v1 adds 1485, total 75,937.
B-Project v2 v2 adds 194 DVDs, total 13,980. Should be a lock for 10k unless the post-ticket drop is incredibly heinous.
Mob Psycho v1 adds 183/132, total 7,328.
New Game v1 adds 171 BDs, total 7,280.
Spring update:
Kuromukuro v1 sells 1,709. BD-only release. 52.4% overestimated, which is huge. But not unexpected, because at ¥12k it is just short of tripping Stalker’s high price penalty. It also had a very long solicitation period (5 months) to add points. There’s a silly situation where v2 and v4 (¥15k MSRP) do trigger the penalty due to being a little more expensive, which makes their estimates much more realistic.
Flying Witch v5 sells 2624/324, total 2,948. Please somehow get a wk2 next week and keep over 3k…
Bakuon v5 sells 1508/319, total 1,827. Bit of a drop on BD this time.
Super Lovers v5, final volume, sells 852/889, total 1,741. Series average: 2,479.
Netoge v5 sells 1182/266, total 1,448. Also a bit of a drop on BD. Maybe this is one of those slow weeks followed by a stronger wk2? That happens with the rankings across the board sometimes. Of course that means you actually have to rank in the top 100 in wk2 to take advantage of it, since we’ve lost the extended rankings…
HeroAca v5, final volume, adds 197/161, total 2,899. Series average:3,511.

Garupan Movie adds 185 LE BDs, total 225,587.
Eupho Movie adds 194 BDs, total 7,236.
Wixoss movie adds 188 RE DVDs, total 4,738. REs just reappear after two months and rank again. Okay then.

Shocking end for HeroAca. Maybe BLack Clover will break the run of low performing WSJ jump disc sales anime wise thats not a sports title.
Days is shocking, no love for soccer animes anymore. I guess we need more baseball animes.
i hope LL sunshine can break 50k avg, low to love-ru boxsets breaks my heart.
now i can’t wait untill friday to see what the lower sales is. the sales for this week is low. especially re:zero, mob psycho and new game
Those are just cheap re-releases of the TLR boxes. Overall its box sales are solid relative to its original single sales.
What is the difference between box sales and single sales?Shokugeki no Souma season 2 first BD box sold 858.Is this bad?
“Box” is mostly used as a term to describe releases with more episode than usual, typically at least 6 episodes (3 normal discs worth). This can either be on initial release, or on a later re-release.
But usually we mean the latter. The TLR BD boxes mentioned this week are re-releases of the full show, long after the original singles ended.
The other time you might see “box” mentioned is if a show releases both singles and “boxes” at the same time during its initial release. For example, Shokugeki no Souma s2 is being sold in box form on DVD (all episodes together), while the BDs are regular single discs releases with just 2-3 eps each.
So the first BD single sold 858. The DVD box doesn’t come out until Nov 23.
858 is… not good, but it’s probably not a series that was expected to sell discs in the first place.
How do you think is 7,145 count as a good or okay result for Mob Psycho 100?
“Good” is relative to factors we don’t know much about (namely its investors’ expectations), so I can’t really say. But compared to how most anime sell, it’s certainly above average. Assuming it doesn’t drop a lot in later volumes anyway.
It has an event ticket
Ouch, Boueibu, I knew it was too early to celebrate when s1v1’s numbers came out. Here’s to hoping it won’t drop too much over the next volumes…
Oh look, Battery is dead. I wanna die.
waiting for Re:zero vol.5,how much did you think it will sells in it’s first week?
Re:Zero sales have been tricky because each volume has has a notably higher wk1 than the volume before. That trend should be ending around now though, since the volumes have already become as front-loaded as they’re likely to. v4 sold 9,107 wk1 and I’d expect v5 to be at least a bit less than that.
I’m very new to looking at sales but was wondering if Days v1 did well in its opening week? Thank you!
Measuring what’s “good” is very difficult, because a variety of factors beyond pure disc numbers come into play. But 2k for a v1, especially with an event ticket application bundled in, isn’t great, no. It’ll finish with sub-2k average sales which is a bit below what most anime sell.
This doesn’t mean the franchise is a failure necessarily, but it definitely means the anime is not a hit, at least. We know sports anime featuring male characters can do very well in terms of disc sales when it strikes a chord with a female audience: Kurobas, Haikyuu, Yowapedal, Free, etc., with Yuuri on Ice poised to be the next major hit. Days is clearly not going to be one of those shows – not even close. But I don’t know enough about the franchise to say if it was trying to be, or had any potential to be.
Darn. Thanks for the info! Hopefully this anime helps outside of the disc sales so a season 2 could be possible! Thank you!
Ouch, Boueibu. I knew it would drop but I was hoping it could do 3.5k. Oh well…
For those curious. Other sales points were obtained from the BD Drama and BD/DVD Idol Image lists on Oricon Youtaiju.

The first volume of Battery only got 1k because of the event ticket, and now in contrast the second volume sold less than 200 copies, incredibly heartbreaking. But I guess it didn’t have much at stake to begin with, it’s an adaptation of a children’s novel that got made into a shoujo manga for whatever reason, so if we mix those two together there isn’t much of an appeal in the anime market for anyone. Maybe the premise should’ve been a little gayer to at least get some support from the fujos, because it’s kinda obvious that the staff was trying their best to not get the shonen-ai label on top of their product.
Yeah, honestly these days I’d only expect a sports series with either some male shipping appeal or male seiyuu appeal (and generally they go together) to sell discs. Guys really don’t buy sports anime in significant numbers, and they don’t sell to the mainstream either. So it’s really only female otaku keeping it alive, in terms of video discs.

Bpro almost up to utapri1 v1 lvl. They could try to grow Bpro with another season and more songs to see if they can groom it to utapri 2 level and beyond.
Id love it just for more THRIVE and Kitakore.
Utapri s1v1 is still well ahead, at 25,537. Still, very solid numbers for B-Project. It’s certainly a step above Starmyu disc sales-wise, for a more recent comparison.
