Spring update:
Macross Delta v1 sells 8742/1257, total 9,999. 21.9/31.5% overestimated. Can you think of a better “fuck you” from the anime sales gods than this? Not even Delta’s event ticket volume (a series that’s crossed 100k for some of its music, mind you, and thus should have some major ticket appeal), the best hope of this awful sales season, can quite manage a 10k wk1. And to be rather overestimated too, ouch. Nine volumes with a sub-10k event ticket v1wk1? I… am really not confident even Delta can manage a 10k this season. What a farce this season is.
Flying Witch v2 sells 2926/327, total 3,253. Up 10.1% from v1wk1. This is what passes for great news in this Madokami-forsaken hellscape of a season devoid of all light or hope. I do not see an event ticket or other special unique extra listed for v2, so this just seems like a straight up increase. I think it’s very safe to assume v1 had wk3+ data that added a considerable amount that we’ll never see thanks to the extended rankings being dead, and is likely still higher. But officially anyway, v2 only needs 400 next week to beat v1, which is very rare. It might not sell that much but even ranking at all with about 200 would put the drop at almost nothing. I’ll take what tiny, tiny victories I can get, I guess.
Super Lovers v2 sells 1040/1259, total 2,299. Down 18.8% from v1wk1.
Bakuon!! v2 sells 1783/386, total 2,169. Down 23.3% from v1wk1.
Netoge v2 sells 1522/339, total 1,861. Down 18.6% from v1wk1.
Tanaka-kun v2 sells 673/383, total 1,056. Down 35.4% from v1wk1, and considering it very very likely won’t rank wk2 down exactly 50.0% from v1 total.
Conrevo s2 v2 sells 440 as a BD-only release. Up 4.3% from v1wk1, though that’s only 18 discs.
Re:Zero v1 adds 473 BDs, total 9,666. 10k next week? Especially seems likely with a bump from people buying v1 along with v2. Only needs 334 more.
HeroAca v2 adds 254 BDs, total 3,248.
v1 adds 166 BDs, total 5,784. We know this because the per-series ranking said 3331 for the week of 7/11 which leaves 168 for v1wk3 BD after v2wk1 sold 2994 and v1wk3 DVD sold 169.
Sansan v2 adds 267, total 2,144.
v1 adds 249 BDs, total 3,338. We know this because the per-series ranking said 2126 for the week of 7/11 which leaves 249 for v1wk3 after v2wk1 sold 1877. Granted some of those 249 could be DVD but, uh, I doubt it (they wouldn’t have made the top 300).
Winter update:
PSO2A v5 sells 1737/431 BDs, 382/2280 DVDs, total 4,830. RE BDs might add another 300. Best wk1 sales so far, for a show clearly bring driven entirely by whatever extras are in a volume. This show has such a weird sales progression.
Dagashi Kashi v5 sells 1,141 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
AoKana v5 sells 940 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Dimension W v5 sells 662 as a BD-only release.
Koyomimonogatari adds 448 LE BDs, total 29,940.
Grimgar v5 adds 271 BDs, total 3,548.
Past seasons:
G Tekketsu v8 sells 5229/617, total 5,846.
Lupin Pt4 v8, final volume, sells 1531/571, total 2,102. Series average: 2,348.
Haikyuu s2 v7 adds 935/814, total 11,764.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
High Speed sells 14642 BDs, 9677/822 DVDs, total 25,141. 9.9%/6.4% underestimated LE, 43.9% overestimated RE. All i all, not that impressive. Smaller wk1 than the first three volumes of s1 despite the event ticket and being, you know, a movie. Also pretty small Animate effect, which isn’t surprising given its ranking there wasn’t amazing, all things considered.
Outbreak Company BD Box sells 412.
Garupan Movie adds 1338 BDs, 315 DVDs, total 219,996. Edit: Per-series ranking for the week of 07/11 lists 3,200 sold, which means 171 RE BDs, which means the new total is 220,167. Edit2[/x]: Per-series ranking for the week of 7/18 lists 1,800 sold, which means 147 RE BDs, which means the new total is [x]220,314[/x].
OVA adds 273 BDs, total [x]66,004[/x].
I’m not sure how much longer the movie can keep up these >1.5k weeks (1653 this week) especially because it relies on DVDs continuing to rank (and it’s amazing they still are) but 220k is in the bag and… maybe… 230k? I can’t see that happening until the yearly rankings though, given there’s no extended rankings anymore. Yearlies will obviously include the LE BD, ought to cover the DVD, and might even fill in a number of weeks for the RE BD (though that’ll account for minimal gains). At any rate the tail on this has been fantastic, with 40k discs added from wk2-9. That’s the longest tail I’ve seen for a late night anime movie and it’s got at least 5k more in it, I’d have to assume.

Updated with the full ranking.
I wish the per-series ranking got posted every week. I don’t think I saw it anywhere for 7/04, but the 7/11 list let us calculate a few additional details:
Garupan Movie RE BD = 171 wk8
HeroAca v1 BD = 166 wk3
Sansan v1 BD = 249 wk3
Edit: Ah, right I forgot this was on Youtaiju, so I can see the 7/04 list… but it’s only a Top 10 series there. That’s a 5,933 cutoff so it doesn’t add anything new.
Hang in there Re:Zero v1, the 10K are closer than ever.
Yeeaaah!! hope we see it next week crossing 10k
and hope it cross 11k or 12k,it’s will be good even if it’s take to much time to do it
also next week we have vol.2,i’m so excited to see how much did it sold,i think first week will maybe sells 7k,anyway it’s probably and i’m sure of it,it’s will sells much better than vol.1 week1
Garupan as the longest tail for an anime movie? I remember Rebellion ranking for 17 or 18 weeks. Maybe not adding 40k, though. I should search the ranking, but I don’t really have time right now.
Really sucks for Delta. This have to be some kind of malediction representing this season.
Oh I mean in absolute unit numbers, yes.
Madoka Hangyaku ranked for 42 weeks counting the extended rankings. It sold 138,212 wk1 vs 37,461 wk2+, so 74.49% wk1.
Garupan with 9 weeks thus far is 179,473 wk1 vs 40,694 wk2+. That’s 81.52% wk1.
Madoka will indeed have the longer tail percentage-wise (though not quite the longest). Garupan would need another ~20k (which is impossible) to attain the same wk1 percentage, because its wk1 was so much larger. If Garupan adds another 5k that’s 79.70%.
Here’s the wk2+ units added and % of sales from wk1 for 100k+ late night movies:
40,694 (81.52%) – Girls und Panzer Movie week 9, ongoing
37,461 (74.49%) – Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Hangyaku no Monogatari
35,698 (71.25%) – Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu
33,955 (85.63%) – Love Live! The School Idol Movie
25,610 (80.71%) – Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Hajimari no Monogatari / Eien no Monogatari
25,477 (84.63%) – K-ON! Movie
23,195 (78.34%) – Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st
17,829 (81.58%) – Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 2nd A’s
Nanoha 2nd actually sold only 96,804 but close enough, eh? Haruhi has the longest tail in the sense of the lowest percentage of sales coming from wk1. Not sure we’ll see that number beaten any time remotely soon. But we can see wk1s for blockbuster films are all between 71-85% wk1 share.
