Anime DVD/BD Sales in Japan

30,088 for the Free! live event. While that’s a good deal less than I expected, it’s damn near spot on the Stalker estimate. I assumed there would be an Animate effect again, if a smaller one, but there was none at all. But, uhhhh still 30k wk1 for a non-concert live event, so, holy shit?

Summer update:
Working s3 adds 531/278, total 5,764. The tail ain’t going to save this one. Going to be down more than half on s2 and two thirds on s1.

Okusama ga Seitokaichou[/i] v1 sells [b]429 BDs, DVDs do not rank. It was already estimated low to begin with (1,169 + 346) but wow. Only a short-episode series sure, but Summer 2015 claims another victim.

Spring update:
Kekkaisen v3 sells 9456/3518, total 12,974. Should track pretty close to v2.

Euphonium v3 sells 6342/741, total 7,083. Close to below v2’s 7.2k wk1, though might lose some slight ground if it doesn’t add the 1.5k v2 did.

Re-Kan v2 sells 523/199, total 722. DVDs from extended.

Kyoukai no Rinne v2 sells 311 as a DVD-only release.

Utapri s3 v2 adds 1289/831, total 50,045. 50k mark reached with the second event ticket.

Past seasons:
Boueibu v6, final volume, sells 2285/3973, total 6,258. Series average: 6,899 and likely to end between 6925 and 6950.

Yowapedal s2 v8, final volume, sells 2728/2338, total 5,066. Series average: 8,312. Should end around 8450. Up from 6,374 s1.

Rolling Girls v6, final volume, sells 889 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 1,104.

Milky Holmes TD v6, final volume, sells 596 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 694. Well that’s higher than Futari wa’s 411! And a movie was recently announced. This franchise can’t die.

Sengoku Musou v6, final volume, sells 274/279, total 553. BDs from extended. Series average: 559.

Garo v7 sells 317 BDs, DVDs do not rank. One left, sitting on a 330 average.

Shirobako v7 adds 221 BDs, total 15,081.

Fafner Exodus v6, final volume, adds 206 BDs, total 6,742. Series average, 8,084.
