Thought Youkai Watch could hit 100k opening week, I guess 99k is close enough.
Spring update:
Kyoukai no Rinne v1 sells 401. DVD-only release.
Kekkaisen v2 sells 10155/3692, total 13,847. Not a bad drop, all things considered. v1 hasn’t had a *huge* tail, so v2 could end up fairly close. Maybe about a 20% drop in the end?
v1 adds 442/268, total 21,504. DVDs from extended.
Euphonium v2 sells 6511/731, total 7,242. Higher than v1wk1 but not as much as I might have hoped. It did have some stock issues in release week but those seem to be largely resolved now, and it’s in stock at Rakuten, Gamers, Amazon, and HMV but currently out of stock at Animate （v1 is OOS at Animate too actually). I don’t think this volume can get much past 8.5k, a slightly bigger drop (but still by no means “big”) than I expected assuming v1 hits 10k. Of course nobody expected v1 to be anywhere near 10k in the first place sooooo that we’re even talking like this means it’s looking very good.
v1 adds 441 BDs, total 9,846. Next week should do it.
Re-Kan v1 sells 570/255, total 825. DVDs from extended.
Utapri s3 v1 adds 1631/932, total 59,780.

Arslan will probably do ok but I believe volume 1 has a lot of extras so v2+ might drop a lot. Punchline is dead.

I hope it doesn’t less than 200-300 copies but considering what I saw before, it’s not very likely. It even decreased any chance of seeing any of Uchikoshi’s works getting animated, his story style just seems hard to adapt.
Still I admit that it is one of the better shows last season even if it kinda fells apart near the end.
It won’t be *quite that* low but v1 only has about an 800 estimate even with an event ticket. Very likely sub-1k wk1.
Punchline is selling basically nothing. Arslan has an event ticket. I figure it’ll probably sell along the lines of Nanatai.
UtaPri continues to dominate. I wish SideM would get an anime already. And I hope the idol anime this Fall does ok in sales. Plus TsukiUta…fans were saying it was going to air in 2016. Kekkai Sensen v2 did better than I expected! And Boueibu’s consistency is just amazing.
And it always pleases me to see YowaPedal doing so well. I need a third season.
But wow…PP did so well! Just amazing to see it pull such numbers.

It’s kind of funny that Fafner Exodus v5 sold the exact same number of DVDs as v4 did, but BDs keep decreasing. Wk2 will tell if it catches up a little or not.
Seeing this, I’m afraid of the second cour dropping even more… Should always keep your expectations low, huh.
Just wanted to add that Kekkaisen v2 ran out of stock so it should add more on the 26th when its restocked.

Allllmost AnoHana’s recap numbers.
Anyway, Arpeggio’s recap movie adds 664 LE BDs, total 15,172, hooray for the 15K.
Considering that half of it is restock footage,,which already got it’s money spent already back…when the series first sold + the sales from the cinema showings….it is even more of a success.
So does much the series does sell and how it compares to its competitive rival KanColle?
KanColle’s sales is much lower than what game/light novel fans thought it would sell before the anime aired, and well below KADOKAWA’s expectations.
It can’t be helped, when the sales pretty much stagnated by episode 3 due to poor decisions in the portrayal of the teitoku (which was identified as the weak point for sales before the anime aired), and the general direction of the anime. It did not really recover after that.
A representative of KADOKAWA in their shareholder press conference a while back was asked on what they thought of the lower than expected performance of the anime, and they replied saying they will put more effort into the sequel since it was definitely lower than KADOKAWA expected. However, I am still going into the sequel with low expectations so I don’t get disappointed again. If it is miraculously better this time around, it will be interesting to see if game/light novel fans forgive the mishaps of the 1st season, or if it is already a lost cause.
Sales wise…it was more successful than Arpeggio 18.5k average for it and Arpeggio had !2.5k average..but as stated above in terms of sales projection kancolle had a lower expected result than they thought it would but Arpeggio had a higher sale number than what they expected so in terms of success ..it depends on how u see it.
If anybody is curious he are some of the early pre order estimates for the summer titles…not all series are up yet…like GATE and Red Snow white…and these can change drastically depending how each episode would influence the fanbase….but if u wan’t idea of how your fav series are doing now here it is.

Just the sequels and Mizushima making any sort of splash so far. As incredibly early as it is, that’s not too surprising.
Sad Gakkou Gurashi didn’t make any sort of dent. The nico broadcast of episode one was the fastest episode to a million views ever (and in half the time of the previous record-holder) and manga sales jumped 10x on the previous week after the episode aired. It’s been ranking incredibly high on Amazon, but through kindle sales because physical copies are out of stock (thus we won’t see those sales reflected in Oricon, sadly).
But nothing is happening with the discs yet. Hope that changes, as I was impressed by episode one and even more by episode two. If Deremas weren’t delayed to this season I have a feeling it’d have a shot at being my favorite Summer show.

I wanted to buy the GuP’s BDs, but damn, it’s more than 400 bucks on one go, and I’m already spending like $120-150/month.
Well, cannot be helped, but I’ll put my hands on the movie when it comes out.

Can we hope for Euphonium Vol. 2 to have similar numbers as Volume 1?
I don’t think so, no. It needed to start this week over 8k for me to feel confident of it dropping less than 10% (which I guess I’d call “similar”).
I think it’ll do between 8-8.5k, so a 15-20% drop assuming v1 ends right around 10k. 1.8k (to reach 9k and 10% drop) is a lot to add when the stock problems don’t seem to be all that serious. But we’ll see, if it adds 1k next week then it’ll be at 8.2k and 9k may be within reach over time. it’s unclear how long Eupho’s tail will be going forward, but with the show over now there’s no reason to expect sudden new bursts of sales.
(I’m being conservative with my estimates, as usual, but I don’t want to assume a huge v1-like tail on v2 without any good reason to do so.)
If it can end at an 8k average I’ll be happy.
Didn’t v1-v3 have event ticket?
Yes, but it goes like so:
Vol 1: 10/24 Tokyo afternoon event
Vol 2: 10/24 Tokyo evening event
Vol 3: 10/31 Kyoto event
So if you’re the kind of person who is only buying for the event ticket (i.e. the people that generate ticket boosts/drops), you’re going to buy v1 or v2, not both, and it looks like the afternoon event will be more heavily attended. And v3’s event will likely be less attractive than v1’s because I’d imagine less people can make it to Kyoto (which is 450km away from Tokyo).
Snuck a peek at the extended rankings to see where Euphonium v1 is going to be tomorrow, and it should add ~439, to total ~9,844.
While we don’t know the exact KyoAni shop numbers, we do know it’s at least 102! There was a lottery with 100 winners for a bonus item, and I’ve heard of *at least* two people who did not win (i.e ultimatemegax and someone they know, the only two people I’ve heard from), so at a minimum them plus 100 winners bought from the KyoAni shop. I think it’s pretty reasonable to assume way more than 156 people bought it there, which would put it at 10k+ now.
Obviously I’m not going to count the 100+ KyoAni shop sales in the official numbers but if you’re wondering if Eupho v1 has hit real-world 10k, well, yeah that’s a guarantee (and probably has been for a while now).

Seeing Garo at 310 for volume 6 still is interesting. I thought that series was “good enough” to be in the 1-2k range but it looks like the buyers beg to differ lol.
Oh Garo has been dead as hell from day one, lol. Hasn’t stopped a sequel from just being announced though!
(Or well, a “second season” with entirely different characters, apparently.)
…and an animated movie too I believe. Makes you wonder what the “Garo Project” bean counters are thinking.
Isn’t it part of a big multimedia push? The projects also could have been in planning for quite some time.
