Yeah these thresholds are as ridiculous as you’d expect for a week this packed.
Spring update:
Oregairu s2 v1 sells 10016/1462, total 11,478. Overestimated 35% on DVD and 24% on BD, but still higher than every s1 volumes except the first, which it could pass.
Show By Rock v1 sells 6865/1733, total 8,598. This one has been very high at Animate all season so being 32% underestimated on DVD and 74% on BD isn’t beyond what I thought night happen. It also has an event ticket and redeemable download code for the original game, so some big boosts going on here. v2 and v3 also have event tickets and all volumes have the game codes as well as other extras like character song CDs, so it’s going to pass 10k v1 and maintain a very high average with so many extras shoved in.
Kinmosa s2 v1 sells 5240/717, total 5,957. A little better than I was expecting given how low it seemed to be on the dailies. It being below the Angel Beats! BD box was most worrying because that one had such a low estimate, but it just turns out that AB! was massively underestimated. If this can add another 1k in wk2+ that brings it to about 7k which isn’t that bad a drop on s1v1’s 8.5k, especially since s1 had a lot of hype surrounding the last minute reveal of the SUPER PRETTY artbox – while s2 has no v1 artbox at all (sadness). Both seasons had a v1 event ticket so maybe the drop won’t be too bad after all!
Seraph v1 sells 2742/3042, total 5,784. 2.2% overestimated on DVD, 65% underestimated on BD. Yikes, if there’s ever a sign of event ticket bloat, it’s that kind of DVD number. The estimates imply this is going to drop like a rock in v2, because v1’s event ticket is a big deal due to the cast full of big stars, including major male seiyuu.
Danmachi v1 sells 4351/784, total 5,135. Pretty spot on to the estimates, over 6.7% on DVD and under 7.6% on BD.
Nisekoi s2 v1 sells 3875/1400, total 5,275. Underestimated 18% on DVD and 51% on BD. Not as underestimated as s1 but still quite heavy. Definitely dropping a bit on s1 though, but that’s normal.
Plasmemo v1 sells 2113/488, total 2,601. DVDs from extended.
Yukichan v1 sells 2155/369, total 2,524. DVDs from extended.
Pleiades v1 sells 1,756 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Triage X v1 sells 1377/353, total 1,730. DVDs from extended.
Ninja Slayer v1 sells 1,667 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Mikagura v1 sells 429/505, total 934. BDs from extended.
Oremono v1 sells 554/232, total 786. DVDs from extended.
Gunslinger Stratos v2 sells 350/388, total 738, both formats from the extended rankings. This didn’t exactly sell much to start with (2,142 wk1) but wooooooow, this is an absolute collapse. Down 65.5%. What sales v1 got were clearly from the included visual novel, as I’m not seeing mention of an event ticket.
Kekkaisen v1 adds 1645/771, total 19,371. Almost got that 20k already.
Euphonium v1 adds 1094/187 BDs, total 7,836. Solid wk2, and it’s still hanging around #30 at Amazon more than two weeks later, so 8.5k next week isn’t out of the question, and certainly by wk4. should be a conservative guess.
Winter update:
Yoru Yatter sells 1,015 as a one-shot BD-only box, so that’s all she wrote.
Deremas v2 sells 8686/776, total 9,462 standalone plus 16,392 G4U per Media Create, total 25,854. Well if it wasn’t obvious already it’s official now, Deremas tops Winter. The event ticket drop for the standalone is 30.1% and 32.7% for G4U. Maybe figure 35% total for standalone due to v2 presumably having a proportionally smaller tail. Not bad for an idol anime event ticket drop.
My hope for Deremas was that it would hit a 20k average and it looks like it would have done that even without an event ticket (and very easily with it) so I’m pretty happy with this. And who knows maybe Media Create Top 1000 yearlies will reappear this year and we can get more than just one damn week of data on the G4Us. Would be nice!
Kancolle v4 sells 10869/1936, total 12,805. Down fro 14.7 and 14.9 the previous two volumes.
Kurobas s3 v3 sells 5481/5670, total 11,151. Big drop on the 15.6k and 15.8k starts of the previous volumes, and the drop could be even bigger if this volume doesn’t have the long tail of the others. I guess v1-2 had something special included. Similar to what happened to Kancolle this week, not sure if it’s a coincidence or buyers being stretched too thin this week, but the last time we had a huge week like this everything sold abnormally *high* so I dunno.
v2 adds 602 DVDs, total 20,668. Some impressive legs on v1-2.
Jojo s3 v3 sells 6776/1351, total 8,127.
Aldnoah s2 v4 sells 4534/628, total 5,162. 6.2k avg with one to go, down a bit from s1’s 8.7k.
Dog Days s3 v4 sells 3351/900, total 4,251. 5k average looking a little tight, but still possible.
Shinmai Maou v4 sells 3173/838, total 4,011. 5k average also looking a little tight here, slightly moreso, but not impossible I guess.
Durarara x2 Shou v5 sells 1739/1022, total 2,761.
Ansakyou v4 sells 861/966, total 1,827.
Koufuku Graffiti v3 sells 1239/236, total 1,475. DVDs from extended.
Tokyo Ghoul s2 v4 sells 895/440, total 1,335 DVDs from extended.
Wold Break v4 sells 629/213, total 842. DVDs from extended.
Yurikuma v4 sells 735 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Gao… g-gao =(
Isuca v4 sells 544/166, total 710. DVDs from extended.
Fafnir v4 sells 593 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Fafner s2 v4 adds 542 BDs, total 7,131.
Past seasons:
SAO II v9, final volume, sells 13314/2704, total 16,018. Series average: 19,786 so it’ll pass 20k in the coming weeks.
Kimiuso v5 sells 6610/1140, total 7,750. Highest wk1 since v2.
G Reco v7 sells 5890/662, total 6,552.
Amaburi v7, final volume, sells 5028/585, total 5,613. Series average: 6,630. Should end around 6.7-6.8k. Pretty solid sales.
Crossange v7 sells 4263/445, total 4,708. DVDs from extended. 6.3k avg with one volume to go.
Gundam BF s2 v2 sells 2001/1469 LE/RE BDs, total 3,470. This is more or less the end, as it’s being released as 9 single DVDs and two BD boxes. Two DVD singles remain but they account for very little. Series average: 4,322. Down almost by half from s1’s 9,350.
Akatsuki no Yona v2 sells 1441/1262, total 2,703. Down 24.4% on v1wk1.
Nanatai v6 sells 1506/1193, total 2,699.
Log Horizon s2 v6 sells 1793/482, total 2,275. DVDs from extended.
Wixoss s2 v3, final volume, sells 1824/166, total 1,990. Way too big of a drop to make any sense, why bail after 5 other boxes? Maybe it’ll have a high wk2. Series average: 2,753. Additional weeks will hopefully get it to 3k but I dunno.
Sorameso v7 sells 1,061 as a BD-only release.
Terraformars v7, final volume, sells 607. Series average: 1,182.
Yowapedal s2 v6 adds 571 DVDs, total 5,510.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Geass Akito v3 sells 20731/1788 LEs, 608 RE BDs, total 23,127.
Gintama BD Box v4 sells 6,330. Gintama becomes only the second series to surpass ¥1bn in BD box sales, after Haruhi. Of course, it took 201 episodes over four ¥35k sets to do that soooo it’s not really apples to apples and it’s ahead of other series that put up waaaaaay more impressive per-episode numbers. But still, a billion yen is a lot of yen!
Angel Beats! BD Box sells 6,018. Estimated at barely 3k so it’s basically doubled that – way more storefront heavy than I was anticipating, and for a BD box at that!
Shin Tenipri OVA v5, final volume, sells 1427/2905, total 4,332. Series average: 6,422.
Mouretsu BD Box sells 1,937. Will pass 2k, so not bad for a 7k series that was almost all BD sales the first time just three years ago.
Nyaruko F OVA adds 574 BDs, total 4,436.

I was looking forward to Seraph but was severely disappointed. Still, it got a good manga boost, a really good one with old volumes appearing on the list and all. Oremono flops, no surprises there, the curse of shoujo lingers. Still, the new manga volume is showing a good increase in sales compared to the previous one.
On the other hand, Yona does ok considering it’s a shoujo as well. It seems to have benefited more from its anime compared to Oremono. I want a season 2. And go Kekkai Sensen, go get that 20k!
The KuroBasu drop is a bit shocking but hopefully it has a nice second week and third week. I want the Replace novels animated. The Replace manga is selling incredibly well for a spin-off. And YowaPeda rocking it as usual, good.
Now to pray that the Gangsta manga gets a good boost in manga sales.
Well, considering how late the discs are because of the issue with production, Yona v1 did quite well imo. But v2 has a significant drop, so perhaps that is where we are seeing the lateness of the release kick in? Unless there was an event ticket in v1 or something… though considering how delayed it was seems unlikely.
Oremono disappointed me I guess. The characters seemed too exaggerated (both the male and female MCs) and/or the comedy felt forced. I wanted to like it, but I guess the characters were getting on my nerves and I dropped it. But maybe I’ll give it another chance.
But since I guess I’ve developed an affinity for shoujo, I guess I’d like to see the “curse” lifted, if there is such a thing hehe. Could Shirayukihime be the one to do it? Hmmm…
Also, since it’s an original maybe it doesn’t have a demographic attached, but would classroom crisis be considered a shoujo?
Anyways, demographic labels don’t seem that important to me anyways. Like Kimiuso, which I liked a lot, is technically a shounen I guess but it seemed very much like it could’ve been published as a shoujo. And it has sold very well.
Yona v1 had an event ticket, yes.
Ehhhhh! How?! Wasn’t it super delayed? Did they delay the event too? Or was it scheduled after VAP dropped out?
I don’t know when the event was scheduled for in the first place, but yes it must have happened after the disc went on sale.
Checked the extended rankings for this week. About 60 DVDs and 130 BDs were new or added a week of ranking.

I updated the Vol. 1 post a bit early because so many came out this week: https://www.someanithing.com/3354
Hopefully Euphonium manages to have great legs, all around of the best series I’ve watched in a while and it needs a sequel.
After 5 days of sales, the LL movie single 1 has reached 74K+. 80K+ 1st week sales is highly likely now. It is trending better than K-ON!’s Listen, so I can see it settling between GO GO MANIAC and Utayou MIRACLE in total daily sales, but the only determining factor of its actual 1st week sales is the Oricon weekly correction. The LL Best Live collection II album got a huge 10% Oricon correction (78,240 total daily sales to 85,086 actual 1st week sales), so if it gets such a comparable weekly correction, we are looking at 85~90K 1st week sales.
