Three new entries into the 10k+ list this week:
Shirobako is halfway done and a clear lock. PA Works’ 2nd (after Angel Beats!), Warner’s 4th, and 134th overall.
Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works is a one-shot box. ufotable’s 3rd (after both F/Z seasons), Aniplex’s 40th, and 135th overall.
Kantai Collection is only one volume in but with almost 20k v1 it’s a lock and that’s probably about what it’ll average. Diomedia’s 1st, Kadokawa’s 13th, and 136th overall. First of 2015, though there should be a few other Winter 10ks (Kurobas, Imas, maybe Saekano?)

UBW and Shirobako save 2014 from a single digit 10k list, which last happened in 2007. 2014 thus finishes up at 11 series over 10k, which is equal to 2009-2010 and only one below 2013. 2011 is still queen at 15 though. It’s possible Kimiuso could do 10k and make it 12 for 2014, but it’s too early to call since we don’t know how it’ll hold up.

I’ve also added one more column to Quick View: Gross sales in units of ¥1 million. I’ve been very reluctant to add columns to that page, due to its size and because I want to keep the way I generate it in my spreadsheet as simple as possible. But sales in yen are 1) easy to pull out, 2) only require one column, and 3) are a good way to give some context to the average sales number, because prices can vary widely based on length and release format.

Thanks for the new column in the Quick View! Great to get a better sense of gross sales for series that don’t make it to the >100M page.

    • something something says:

The >100m page is strictly for BD boxes anyway, so this is all-new information. Before I only had sales in yen on the 10k+ page (which may be what you meant, though). The only reservation I have about putting sales in yen there is it will be inaccurate for series where not all volumes ranked, since it’s only based on what did. No way around that, though.

Oh right, the 10k+ page (had too many tabs open). Is there any practical way to differentiate series where not all volumes ranked?
