I need to get the ranking summary stuff done this weekend and make sure I have Winter v1s going.
Winter update:
Saekano v1 sells 5482/1110, total 6,592. Half price v1 so it’ll drop, but could be an 8k+ v1.
Kamimashita s2 v1 sells 824/417, total 1,241. Only three volumes this time, at higher MSRP.
Fafner Exodus v1 adds 617 BDs, total 9,233 in wk5, meaning it added 242 in wk4. Possible 10k?
Durarara s2 v1 adds 431/428, total 6,644.
Fall update:
Shirobako v1 adds 470 BDs, total 12,690 in wk11.
v2 adds 446 BDs, total 12,393 in wk6.
v3 adds 1007 BDs, total 11,805 in wk2.
Kimiuso v1 adds 1172/536, total 11,552. Even if v2+ drop by half, it’ll have a good average. And it shouldn’t be that harsh of a drop.
Yowapedal s2 v2 adds 291 DVDs, total 10,899.
G Reco v3 adds 327 BDs, total 8,285.
Amaburi v3 adds 664 BDs, total 6,240. Only 5.8% down on v2, a few extended weeks and it’ll be quite close. But, apparently this had an event ticket so while I assume it had very little effect, I’m not sure how v4+ will do.
Nanatai v2 adds 346/465, total 6,197.
Crossange v3 adds 390 BDs, total 5,529.
Trinity Seven v3 adds 351 BDs, total 3,273.
Past seasons:
Rail Wars! v6, final volume, sells 1490/292, total 1,782. Series average: 1,947, should end around 1,975 or so.
Glasslip v6, final volume, sells 388 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 426.
Haikyuu!! v8 adds 389/389, total 20,888. Just over 24k avg with one to go.
SAO II v5 adds 1222/363, total 18,391.
Mahouka v8 adds 617/257, total 10,355.
Nozaki-kun v6, final volume, adds 521/289, total 9,088. Series average: 10,530.
Hanayamata v6, final volume, adds 445 BDs, total 3,907. Series average: 3,538.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Tsukimonogatari v2 sells 26399/3333, total 29,732.
v1 adds 2083 BDs, total 32,767. The usual Aniplex+ bump for the second part of an arc, but proportionally bigger this time. Still 31,250 average (likely to end around 32.3k) compared to 42k for Second Season though.
Digimon Adventure BD Box sells 12,094. At its ¥54800 MSRP that’s enough to land it at #8 on the BD Box list right off the bat.
Oregairu BD Box sells 4,947, quite strong.
Yuru Yuri OVA adds 316 BDs, total 9,225. Yay for season three being announced.
Hyouka BD Box adds 827, total 8,920. So we’ll be passing 9k, yay.
Nanoha StrikerS BD Box adds 516, total 8,468.
Kuroshitsuji OVA v2 adds 347/327, total 7,781. Secures 8k average for the two volumes.
Gintama BD Box v2 adds 408, total 7,017.

But really who cares about anime when we’ve got:
2015/03/11 Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai 2014 in Osaka
Yaaaaaaaay ♥
I wonder will Kimiuso manga ending negative effect the sales(it seems anime will follow it), some of fans saying they don’t like the ending, but personally i think the ending is ok and pretty(though i’m not Kimiuso fans)
>Tsuki: 31,250
When you compare it with Hana, the last arc of S2, it’s not quite a big drop but when you compare it with the first Monogatari TV special, NekoKuro, that sold 57K… well, damn.
Hopefully Final Season ends up strong.
Shit, didn’t mean to reply.
It’s really been nothing but a downward slide for Monogatari. But like, considering how high it started… yeah, it’s doing alright!
Remember there still is Kizumonogatari which i predict will sale 100k+ at least
Well yes but it would be unfair to compare a movie to a TV series.
But, like… it needs to actually exist before we can worry about its sales! And who knows if it ever will…
Meh, Monogatari’s pretty much reached its prime. There’s also not much more material left to adapt either so SHAFT x Aniplex is still making a killing despite discs decreasing in sales.
Well, by sales at least it seems it peaked early with Bakemonogatari and is now well PAST it’s prime but story wise the best is yet to come in my opinion.
They still have a short story volume Koyomimonogatari, the 3 part Owarimonogatari (my personal favorite is volume 3) and Zoku Owarimonogatari, Kizumonogatari and assuming he wasn’t kidding, new book Tsugimonogatari to come so there is still a fair bit left to go. More than a 26-episode 2-cour season in my opinion.
Probably a two cour season plus specials to wrap up remaining books, like Second Season/Tsuki.
Agreed though I’m still not sure what they’ll do with the short story volume. If I were the series composition director I’d do one episode per short story but I’m not sure they’ll give it a whole cour. Two stories per episode or twelve 12 minute episodes might work but might be odd as well. It is the sore thumb of the series as far as anime adaptability goes but it is very important for the story so they can’t just skip it.
So, any word on Parasyte’s sales?
Doesn’t come out until March 18th, but it’s dead as hell. 1k would be a generous estimate.
Aww. Japan has shit taste indeed.
Not sure if you’re actually serious there or not, but please spare us the “Japan has shit taste” crap. Many of us has had enough of this shit from 4chan, MAL or ANN (assuming you came from one of those 3 places). It is:
1. in no way constructive
2. a waste of internet bandwidth
3. a poor reflection on the Western anime community as a whole
Did you know that the Japanese can also say the same thing about people who think like you?
Another thing, you ever heard of “cultural difference”?
Please think about it.
Please don’t say that. I mean, I know it’s frustrating when a series you like doesn’t sell but Japan does not have sh*t taste. It’s just that anime like Parasyte don’t sell there. The manga got a boost and that counts so it’s not a total loss.
Welcome back, Fafner! I’m so happy that it sells well.
All 6 vols in Amazon top 100 since last week’s episode. It was just this impressive.
I’m so happy Fafner is selling this well!
Also, do you know anything about the sales of GARO: The Animation, Yona of the Dawn and Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE?
Garo tanked, sold 374.
Yona and Boueibu aren’t out yet.
Well, at least MAPPA had no financial stakes in it, given how they were paid upfront by Tohokushinsha Film Corp. (I also don’t know if DVD sales are more important than ratings here).
Plus, Garo is all about the pachinko machines, so you shouldn’t worry.
Expect poor sales for Yona since it’s shoujo. But don’t think too much of it. The main point of the anime for Yona was to increase manga sales, and the anime has done that. A new volume of them manga will be coming out soon and we’ll be seeing the anime effect there as well.
As for Boueibu, it had a very rough start but it’s somewhat picked up now. Volume 1 will sell ok thanks to an event ticket while v2+ will drop. But they won’t be doing sub 1k like I thought. Plus the music and the game and other events are doing well.
So, no second season?
Surprised 7taizai couldnt do like Haikyuu! and get both a big disc sales and also manga sales. 2nd aniplex anime manga adaptation at that time space since Ive been following these things that couldnt generate really high disc sales. Perhaps they need to use that tv time block for more WSJ adaptations.
Updated with the full weekly ranking.
Never did my summary post for the extended rankings last week, but there wasn’t anything super interesting. Will do this week’s updated tonight or tomorrow. Also overdue for another ranking summary post.
This should be the first weekly list in 10 months without “Love Live!” (not counting concerts) !!! But by the end of this year we will have the BD movie.
Finally!
You made a typo in yuru yuri.
Nice 9.2k sales for Yuru Yuri, by the way. Maybe the 9k rule also applies to OVA sequels ;p
9k rule?
And shoujo blues continue with Kamimashita. Well, it’s a HUGE miracle that it got a second season in the first place so I don’t think Hakusensha is fussed about BD/DVD sales. A new volume will be coming out in…April I think. Let’s see how it does.
YowaPedaS2v2 so close to that 11k! Hope volume 3 does ok as well. Haikyuu!!, Nozaki-kun and the Kuroshitsuji OVA doing well, very good to see. I want a season 4 of Kuroshitsuji please. ;_;
And Digimon…I hope Toei doesn’t screw it up like they did with SMC.
uhh there is no overall estimate-sale thread this season ?
Spring looks interesting, the competition is so complex that we can’t guess which anime will sell more than 10k, except Fate. My bet goes on Owari no Seraph ,Euphonium and Arslan Senki
Like, stalker estimates? Nah, haven’t done that since https://www.someanithing.com/2805. It’s just not a very interesting season sales-wise so I haven’t felt compelled to put another post together. The only show I care about that is going to sell well is Deremas and we have no idea if it’ll be 10k or 30k because of the darn G4U packs making tracking impossible.
Considering the sales of Nanoha have been basically doubling every season… Season 1 (4,948 average) to Season 2 (11,251 average) to Season 3 (22,591 average), it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the upcoming Nanoha ViVid to do at least 10K+ average. That’s assuming it being a spin-off to the main series will not affect its sales much, but some series have shown it can end up higher than even the main series (E.g. Toaru, Fate, and To Love-Ru).
You also forgot UtaPri 3, which will very likely do 10K+ average considering the CD sales are still strong, only losing out to Love Live in terms of sales for idol anime. It could rival Fate, if the 1st Season box doesn’t sell as high as high as people expect it to, and it has not shrunk in fanbase.
Here is the most recent BD/DVD reservations BEST10 at Animate, from the March 5th issue of the Animate Charaby magazine:
https://twitter.com/fulikake/status/574890034630807553
KanColle Vol.1 is #1, then followed by all the KuroBas Season 3 DVDs. So KanColle is doing incredibly well at Animate (but it has been evident in the daily rankings anyway), and coupled with its impressive performance at gamers and softmap, moderate performance at HMV and other storefront stores… I can only see it being underestimated tbh. Of course, the important thing is how the sales hold up across the volumes, so it will be interesting to see how Vol.2~6 end up doing.
Checked the extended rankings for this week. About 45 DVDs and 91 BDs were new or added a week of ranking. As before, I’ll just highlight some updated v1s, BD boxes, and miscellaneous:
Yuyuyu v1 → 11,708
Wixoss s2 v1 → 2,983
DxD New BD Box → 1,903
Fafner BD Box → 2,854
Strike Witches OVA v1 → 20,222
Majimoji Rurumo final volume ranks, series average 260.
Any predictions regarding Cinderella Girls’ sales?
We can’t track the most important version (the G4U packs are categorized as videogames and thus not captured by Stalker), so the normal prediction methods are useless.
All we can say is that original Animas was about 30% standalone discs, 70% G4U packs. If Deremas keeps the same ratio (and who knows if it will?) and Stalker’s currently predictions of the standalone discs are correct, it might sell… about 17 wk1?
Or it could be 10k, or it could be 25k, really there’s no way to tell at all. G4U throws predictability out the window.
