Fall update:
Nanatai v1 sells 3047/3574, total 6,621. Event ticket accounts for most of that, so it ought to see a steep drop over the next few volumes. It’s done its work on the manga side already, though, to put it mildly.
Bahamut v1 sells 3,315 as a BD-only release. 53.7% overestimated, massive as as expected!
Mushishi Zokushou s2 v1 sells 2621/666, total 3,287. Aniplex continues the volume numbering, but like with Aldnoah there was a break between eps so it’s a new season to me I guess.
Log Horizon s2 v1 sells 1995/520, total 2,515. Should expect about a 50% drop on s1’s average I guess. Not that disc sales really matter.
Sorameso v1 sells 1,738 as a BD-only release. “It could be worse” …is a thought that momentarily flashed through my mind, which is proof of how damn low I have had to set sales expectations for shows I like. Ugh.
G Reco v2 sells 7322/812, total 8,134.
That definitely proves the v1 screw-up. Whether it was Amazon or Oricon, someone didn’t report/count the Amazon edition of v1 to Oricon. Soundscan *did* count it, and so the Oricon 3,884 v1wk1 BDs have been replaced with the Soundscan 8,565 v1wk1 BDs. Soundscan is usually higher than Oricon by about 10%, but I figure that’s offset by using the lower Oricon number for wk2+. Should all even out more or less. v1 total is now 10,489. Still waaaaaaaay overestimated but only “waaaaaaaay” instead of “HOLYSHITWHAT”.
Shirobako v2 sells 7741/376, total 8,117, DVDs from extended ranking. This was better stocked than wk1 (equivalent to about wk4 of v1’s sales), but still insufficient and will have a fairly decent tail. It does however rank on DVD and that 379 could end up the difference between averaging 10k or not for all we know.
v1 adds 861 BDs, total 9,322 in wk6. It ranked high on the dailies for Feb 4 so we should see it over 10k next week or at latest the week after. Warner is sure taking their time restocking but I guess it’s still better than Bandai who just gave up on Garupan v1-2.
Amaburi v2 sells 5190/571, total 5,761. Not nearly as bad as I feared from the somewhat dire daily rankings. Only down 10.6% on v1wk1, although I don’t anticipate v2 will have as long a tail. If it can hold steady, maybe a 6-6.5k average? That would be perfectly acceptable.
Grisaia v2 sells 3160/521, total 3,681. Up slightly on v1wk1.
Madan no Ou v2 sells 2410/594, total 3,004. Only down 5.3% on wk1.
Gugukoku v2 sells 1388/1419, total 2,807. Down 38.7% on v1wk1.
OreTwi v2 sells 1801/356, total 2,157, DVDs from extended ranking.
Terraformars v2 sells 999/461, total 1,460.
Inou-Battle v2 sells 1,001 as a BD-only release. Down 32.9% on v1wk1.
Chaika s2 v2 sells 900 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Daitoshikan v2 sells 791 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Build Fighters s2 v2 sells 496 DVDs, but obviously the real sales are coming in the BD boxes, just like season one. Wait until March!
Denki-gai v2 sells 404 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Ushinawareta v2 sells 389 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
Yowapedal s2 v1 adds 638/801, total 12,537.
Yuyuyu v2 adds 775 BDs, total 9,045. 9k in wk2 is good! Might hit 10k if it can make thresholds for 2-3 more weeks.
Psycho-Pass 2 v2 adds 578 BDs, total 5,829.
Crossange v2 adds 730 BDs, total 5,659.
Trinity Seven v2 adds 556/184, total 3,834. DVDs from extended ranking.
Donten ni Warau v1 adds 200/218, total 3,247, both from the extended ranking.
Summer update:
SAO II v4 sells 13984/2892, total 16,876.
Nozaki-kun v5 sells 5922/2271, total 8,193. I’d say it’s locked down that 10k now. Another 500 BDs next week, some DVDs in the extended ranking, and this vol will be approaching 9k. Then next vol only needs 6.5k or so to capture the 10k, and it’ll easily sell more than that.
Aldnoah v adds 456 BDs, total 8,096 in wk6.
v5, final volume, sells 6382/795, total 7,177. Series average: 8,370. Might get to around 8.5-8.6k with extended ranking long tail. While s2 continues the volume numbering at six, I’ll be counting it as a separate season due to the cour break in between.
Prisma Illya s2 v5, final volume, sells 4281/440, total 4,721. Series average: 5,365. Figure it ends around 5.5k or so. Down from 7.1k s1 average.

Good to see Nozaki-kun and Kuroshitsuji doing well. I need to watch Book of Murder soon. I hope we get another season soon. Sales are still good for it. Bahamut overestimated as expected but it’s still better than nothing. I just hope v2+ don’t drop too much.
Haikyuu!! and Free!ES doing well, hope Free!ES adds more next week. YowaPedaS2 doing much better than season 1! It would be amazing if it could average 10k but that’s probably a long shot…

Hi, this is the first time i’m here and i have not so good english. But i have a question. Is Mahouka numbers good? I really want a second season. Do you think there will be a second season?
It didn’t become a hit on the level of Sword Art Online, but it still is on track for 10k average and the original novels did very well after the anime. A sequel would not surprise me.
