2014 Fall Vol 1 Rankings
Please note: Volume 1 sales are not the best, or even a particularly good, way to evaluate a series’ performance. Sometimes one of two formats doesn’t rank in volume 1, but ranks in a later volume. Often times volume 1 sales are inflated with bonuses like event tickets or bundled manga, etc. Always, always use the average sales when evaluating anime, not volume 1 sales. I only provide these because it takes many months before we have a final average and people like to be able to ballpark a season early on. Just be intelligent about it!

Partial Ranking means a release came out on more than one video format, but only one of the two ranked.
Large Vol. 2 Drop? designates any titles that dropped by 30% or more from Vol. 1 to Vol. 2. This is used to indicate that you should take caution in evaluating the success of the show purely on the first volume’s sales.

  2. Siliziumleben says:

I think you forgot to include Terraformars, Psycho-Pass 2 and Trinity Seven.

  3. Oppps says:

Cross Ange ranked in week 6 too

  4. Oppps says:

    Why does Amaburi partially ranks?

  5. Urizithar says:

What about Akatsuki no Yona? When will it be released?

    • something says:

It finally got announced just recently, but isn’t formally solicited to stores yet so I don’t have all the details. I think we’re still waiting on whether it’s singles or a boxset.

    No update on Shigatsu?

    • Ejc says:

This list was lasted updated on Feb 21, while Shigatsu came out on Feb 25. If you really want to know… Shigatsu is at 11,552 (8,520 BD + 3,032 DVD) after 2 weeks..

    • something says:

I’m about to get all the rankings updated, been slacking on that again. The time I usually spend doing that each week has been totally eaten up (like three times over) by the time it takes to update the extended rankings each week, and weekends are short enough as is so I’m finding it increasingly hard to keep stuff up to date. Today, though! …Er, after the 4-6 hours it’ll take I mean.

  7. pizza says:

is akatsuki no yona really coming out that late? what are they thinking?

    op please respond :\

    • something says:

Yep, it’s that late. I have no idea what they’re thinking though.

      • pizza says:

fucking pierrot dumbfucks, when they actually make something really good they literally kill it’s chances to do well on the spot, FUCK I WANTED A S2 if the sales were good, but now, the chances of good sales are down the toilet

        • something says:

I doubt the late release will have much effect on the sales, if any. Also Pierrot is just the animation studio. They have nothing to do with scheduling the DVD/BDs for release.

        • The video disc release is published by Marvelous, not the animation studio. The late release probably has something to do with VAP (a video/music distributor/publisher) leaving the committee during the airing of the show and Marvelous having to find some way to release the show on video disc. Marvelous leads the committee, so they would take into account how late the show went on sale when looking at numbers.

          • hpulley says:

Interesting… has that ever happened before? I can’t remember a disc distributor pulling out of the production committee. VAP hasn’t exactly had big sellers lately (ever?) but did something happen?
