That Imas underestimation.
Yeah I suck and missed the ranking summary post again last week. Uhhh, I’ll do it after this week’s full list is out. (It’s not like, super ultra urgent the lists are always updated weekly really, just as long as I don’t get too far behind.)
Summer update:
Rokujouma v2 sells 1598/290, total 1,888. Down 18.9% on v1wk1.
Blade Dance v2 sells 1276/462, total 1,738. Down 18.9%.
Shounen Hollywood v2 sells 728/314, total 1,042. Down 5.1%.
Glasslip v2 sells 429 BDs, DVDs do not rank.
SAO II v1 adds 551 BDs, total 21,212. It’s amusing how close this and Free are, so which one is top of Summer will probably just come down to which can be more consistent.
Nozaki-kun v2 adds 569/364, total 10,515. Remaining volumes need to average about 8.8k to secure 10k.
Prisma Illya s2 v2 adds 720 BDs, total 5,518.
Tokyo Ghoul v2 adds 387/355, total 3,869.
Spring update:
Black Bullet v5 sells 1718/425, total 2,143.
Kawaisou v5 sells 1409/338, total 1,747.
Dragonar v5 sells 781/276, total 1,057.
Love Live! s2 v5 adds 4205, total 43,202.
Nogenora v5 adds 593 BDs, total 7,445.
Date A Live II v5, final volume, adds 803 BDs, total 5,521. Series average: 5,811.
Kamiasobi v5 adds 277 DVDs, total 3,117. One vol to go, should hold onto a 4k average just barely.
Unranked in either format:
M3 ~Sono Kuroki Hagane~ – Based on the extended rankings, likely sold well below 200. But since we can’t know for sure, Meganebu still holds the crown.
Past seasons:
Wizard Barristers v5 sells 443 BDs, DVDs do not rank. with one volume to go, and presumably no DVDs ranking, should average about 480 at best.
Monogatari v12, final volume, adds 649 BDs, total 36,343. Series average: 41,313.
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Idolmaster Cinderella Girls promo disc sells 16945/1632, total 18,577. Wow, 44.6% underestimated on BD, 22.6% on DVD. Previous Idolmaster releases were either overestimated (tv series) or basically spot on (movie), so this is a big shift. I don’t think it’ll carry over to the TV series to this degree, but still, woah.
Nanoha A’s BD Box sells 8,100. This one won’t beat the original release, but only because the original sold more than twice what the first season did. Still pretty damn amazing, the Nanoha franchise cannot die.
Slam Dunk BD Box v3 sells 1,969.
Higurashi BD Box sells 701.
Idolmaster Movie ads 392 LE BDs, total 77,190 in wk5.
Shin Tenipri OVA v1 adds 334/655, total 8,057.
Hagaren BD Box adds 367, total 2,374.
Upcoming Releases for 2014 11/10 – 11/16 Anime DVD List
2014/11/12 Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal v1 DVD
2014/11/12 Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal v2 BD
2014/11/12 Mouretsu Pirates Abyss of Hyperspace
2014/11/12 Persona 4 The Golden v3
CAN YOU HANDLE THIS DELUGE OF RELEASES?
Here’s hoping some of those 3 titles is highly over/understimated to make next week interesting.
>CAN YOU HANDLE THIS DELUGE OF RELEASES?
I can’t somebody hold me.
But hey, atleast we are getting more pirates.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal Vol.2 BD is also being released on Nov 12th, but yeah what a dead week to come.
I had that listed initially but removed it since it’s so unlikely to rank. Though with low enough thresholds…
Really? How could it not rank with 3,370 stalker prediction? Or am I missing something, sorry?
Oh. for some reason my brain read your initial comment as saying v1 RE BD. I didn’t even notice v2 in Stalker’s list, oops.
Isn’t the Sailor Moon Crystal BD 1 (normal edition) will also be released in Nov 12th?
It is, but I don’t list REs in that section because REs never rank. SMC could be a rare exception, but only if thresholds are REALLY low. Like really, really low.
Hm, too bad there weren’t any Idol BDs ranking this week… looking to be a medium high BD100 threshold on Thursday though. M3 is another **,*** victim, as expected.

2 sateligth mecha anime, ranked rigth after each other. Poor sateligth.
Too bad Log Horizon went to Deen. Poor M3. I hear that it flopped because it was pretty bad. Is it true?
Log Horizon going to DEEN means nothing, all the core staff is the same as the first season.
I thought M3’s writing was mostly good, but its drab color pallette, dull character designs and so-so animation/CG quality made it one of the most visually unengaging shows in recent memory. It’s like Junichi Sato and his staff were consciously trying to make it their least commercial show ever.
I enjoyed M3’s story quite a bit. The story was dark so I think the palette and designs were likely done on purpose but you’re right, they didn’t grab people and with anime, you have to grab people’s attention right away to get them to buy, the attention span is usually just a few episodes and once they’re gone, they will likely never return.
Too bad as the story in the end was actually quite good in my opinion. Not sure if it even needed to be a mecha show though when I think about doing it without the mecha it does make it seem like it was easier to use them than not use them. But it probably could have been a suspense thriller/horror instead, not sure that would have sold any better.
Don’t understand the DEEN hate at all. Some of my favorite recent shows were done by them. I suspect that Log Horizon’s quality is hurt more by the NHK budget than by any of their staff changes.
Sadness. But clearly it’s below 200. Possibly well below.
RIP in pieces, Nozaki’s chances at 10k+ average.
Not necessarily! But it’s a rougher road than before, for sure. Volumes 3-6 need to average 8.8k to secure a 10k average. That’s not a sure thing, but actually quite doable. Especially if any of the later volumes come with some extra to boost sales. Even if not, it’s still doable considering v2 will be hitting 10k. I’m not aware of any reasons why v3-6 would sell much worse than v2. v3 looks to have the same lineup of extras v2 does.
Updated for the full ranking. Very little new stuff.
Not much this week. Nozaki-kun doing well and KamiAso passes 3k, yay! I also hope there will be a Slam Dunk remake one day…
