Dude to unknown reason,Kill la Kill BD vol.5 leaked today and listed in today’s oricon ranking lol

So this… doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I thought maybe 5/07 was just a mistake by Oricon but nope that’s the real date. This could cause some very bizarre things to happen.

Well this week isn’t busy week,so i guess KLK’s “week 0” sales data will show up,then once actual release week data are out everything will be back to normal

        • something says:

It’ll be okay for first week sales of something like KLK to be split across two rankings, but man this sort of thing could be really bad if it happened to a much lower-selling show. I just wonder how many shops are releasing early for it to rank this highly.

And yeah, Kill La Kill back out of the daily rankings. The only stores (assuming this was just one) I can possibly see moving enough copies to put it at #5 (which probably took upwards of 2k copies) are Amazon or Animate, and I have no idea how it sells at Animate.

I guess we’ll see maybe 1.5-2.5k BDs this week and the rest next week. BDs aren’t a problem but the potential issue, of course, is if this splits DVD sales enough that both weeks fall below the cutoff. Unlikely, but possible.

I can already see the flood of people saying that Kill la kill flopped because of this.

I really should stop going to anime forums.

What’s an anime forum? Sounds like horrible places I’m glad don’t actually exist.

Its the mythical land of bridges, but what is under those bridges is something I will not dare reveal, for its evil is too disgusting for even the internet to withstand.

Any idea what’s going on with Jojo’s preorder rankings? It’s not listed on Amazon but it’s shown on HMV and the like.

    • something says:

Honestly, I don’t know. Smaller anime specialty retailers very frequently list things earlier than Amazon does, but I wouldn’t call HMV a specialty retailer so it is strange that it’s still not up on Amazon. We’ve known a price and disc count from the official website for ages now, but I guess official solicits aren’t technically out?
