Hello, how is Symphogear XV doing? Will it sell more than season 4?

Vol. 1’s estimate (9.0k on pripri) is a good ways below s4v1’s estimate (17.8k). The s4v1 estimate ended up being pretty spot on so it’s reasonable to think s5’s estimate will be accurate as well. If this is true, then it definitely won’t come close to another increase. That said, my understanding is that it’s not announced an event ticket yet? If so, who knows what will happen. But v1 comes out in two weeks so there’s not much time for things to change.

it’s still the highest estimated series of the season (though I expect Ensemble Stars, with 6.9k on pripri, would actually be higher when you factor in Animate) though, so… this is just what the physical video disc industry is like in 2019.

How is Granbelm doing in sales?

  3. Ardis says:

Really curious about the sales of the rest of JoJo Part 5 volumes.
Heard kinda mixed response about 5k copies per volume as an average – some said it was fantastic for a shonen in 2019, some said it was rather dissapointing, considering Vento Aureo is Japan’s favorite.
What do you think – it’s rather good, or commercial dissapointment?

My main comment would be that disc sales are a lot less important for Jojo than for most series. Warner Brothers Japan does still want to sell discs of course, since they’re the publisher of those. But they also handle the international streaming rights, and given Jojo’s massive international popularity (not to implying it isn’t also huge in Japan of course) that means they almost certainly make far more money off of that than on BD sales.

It is true that disc sales have dropped sharply as Jojo has gone on.
      S1: 20,022 average
      S2: 12,420
      S3: 10,040
      S4: 8,993
      S5: 5,165 (through 8/10 vols)

But this is entirely to be expected. It’s a very long series (the most recent BD/DVD is the 42nd to date!) and the physical media market in general is weaker than it was when Jojo debuted in 2013.

And yeah I’m pretty overdue for updating the rankings again… I’ll do that later in the week, after this week’s data comes out.

Do you know how much danmachi 2 will go down sales wise? and was the movie able to surpass the 10k line in the end?(i cant find the data for it in the site)

    • something says:

The film sold 9,939 after 3 weeks, which is the last data we have,

Season two ended up with a 3,128 v1wk1 estimate. We’ll get the actual number in a couple days. Season one averaged 5,200 and I’d expect season 2 to end up around 3k, so it’ll have dropped a bit. But considering a third season is already announced, I wouldn’t be concerned at all by that.
