Spring update:
Kakuriyo v2 sells 336 DVDs, BDs do not rank.

Uma Musume v1 adds 507, total 17,553. I don’t think a ¥12,800 box will have a terribly long tail but I guess we’ll be finding out over the next few weeks. We’ll have v2 numbers in two weeks.

Persona 5 v2 adds 425 BDs, total 5,884. Down 38.8% on v1 so we’re probably looking at a 6.0-6.5k average.

Winter update:
Fate/Extra LE v1 sells 2718/413, total 3,131. 13.9%/39.8% underestimated.

Idolish7 v6 adds 2043/1365, total 14,577.

Yurucamp v3, final volume, adds 664 BDs, total 13,628. Series average: 14,110.

CCS Clear Card v4 adds 463 BDs, total 4,530.

Past seasons:
Granblue v7, final volume, adds 313 DVDs, total 61,544. Series average: 55,572. That’s almost 1k since last ranking three weeks ago and if the other volumes kept pace it may be over 56k now. All it might take is one very slow week with the volumes popping back up to pass LL Sunshine s1 and become #9?

Osomatsu-san s2 v8, final volume, adds 688/744, total 7,507. Series average: 10,314.

Mahoyome v4, final volume, adds 579, total 5,900. Series average: 6,430.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:

I’m new here. Where is FMP IV ?

    • something something says:

Its first week of ranking was last week, and it didn’t sell enough this week to get a second ranking (but it might if we get a more complete list at a later date).

      • Kaizen27 says:

You mean that it sold less than 425 copies for the second week ?

        • something something says:

Correct. Since it only sold 3610 BDs in its first week, 425 more would be 11.8% of wk1 sales. While that’s not that big of a percentage and often doable, it’s also not too shocking for it to not sell that much in its second week, especially when it’s come out in a “higher msrp but less volumes” release which tends to front-load sales a bit more.

          • REMIX_SATELLITE says:

As a FMP fan i’m quite surprised it even reached 4k since they butchered it with poor animation, CGI and the way they portrayed the story .

  2. Dxd Fan says:

Geez High School Dxd hero is gone from this weeks list. I wonder if that shows sucess is primarily based off disc sales. I sure hope that’s not the case. We need a season 5!

  3. Lidieth says:

I guess no Kakuriyo BDs are ever going to rank again…
It was probably dead from the start, but this really is the final nail in the coffin :(

  4. ecchisevenadam says:

High School DxD Hero Is Blu ray sales good? or bad? I hope the sales are going well. I’d appreciate it if you could explain how it happened. I’d appreciate it if you could explain how it happened.

    • something something says:

We can only speculate what the expectations are for the companies funding any given anime. My guess is that DxD didn’t get this far on disc sales alone, so the decline in disc sales isn’t as big a deal as one might assume. It’s very rare for any anime to get a fourth season to begin with, therefore even if it had sold the same this season as last season, it’d still be extraordinarily uncommon for there to be a fifth. So even if this is the end of the DxD anime, it’d be hasty to say it’s due to disc sales.

I went over the production committee for DxD Hero here: http://www.someanithing.com/9670/comment-page-1#comment-114968

Kadokawa is in the lead. They invested the most into the production of the anime, and they handle the video discs, novels, manga, and games that have been released for DxD. They probably get a cut of other revenue sources as well. It’s primarily their project, though everyone else on the committee has a role to play (and their own revenue expectations) as well.

So while I’m sure Kadokawa cares how the BDs sell, there’s more to DxD’s success or failure than that for them.

Sorry, but I can’t find anything regarding the Anime Land of the Lustrous
