Yikes, a >1k threshold. Thankfully we still get v1wk1 leaks somehow, but the lack of the full Biz leaks still remains a huge problem. At least next week isn’t overly crowded so some of these should get wk2s… though honestly I just wan to see that Yorimoi v4wk2, I’d sacrifice all else for that.

Edit: Got some additional leaks thankfully. If someone has access to this stuff I wish they’d find a way to post the full lists…

Edit: And some more, found 2018-07-13. Ahh why is this stuff so spread out now? Stop making it difficult.

Edit: And now in one place with a bit more: Source link

Spring update:
Persona 5 v1 sells 6775/1793, total 8,568. 5.7%/12.9% overestimated. Event ticket. A shadow of P4’s sales, though enough for almost guaranteed #2 of the season (and probably #1 if Uma Musume didn’t have Granblue codes).

Steins;Gate 0 v1 sells 2638/144, total 2,782. 24.9%/65.7% overestimated. Yikes. Down from 12,289 s1v1wk1 (total 19,628, series average 16,671).

Comic Girls v1 sells 1435/309, total 1,744. 3.8%/32.1% overestimated. Event ticket.

  1. Mami Kawada Lover says:

    >Hinamatsuri v1 sells 875 BDs, DVDs do not rank. 40.1% overestimated. Sadness.
This did a lot worse than I expected. I knew it was gonna flop, but I thought it would do 1K at least. At least we still have the manga.

    >2018/06/27 Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru v1 (not ranked)
    Yikes.

  2. Tuna says:

Seems like many series got a case of franchise fatigue/also seems like less and less casuals are really buying.

no granblue on the list though I hope its reign isnt truly over.

  3. Flushme says:

That’s really unfortunate for Hinamatsuri. I wonder what the deciding factor was. The focus on Yakuza? The reduced focus on Yakuza compared to the manga? Or mayble the rushed adaption?

  4. Ikan Lele says:

Hi, I don’t know if this is accurate but from yaraon :
    DVD
    150 Maho site
    149 Hina
    144 SG0
    129 Devilsline
    101 MahoSite2

    BD
    226 MahoSite2
    213 Saredo
    189 Souten Ken
    153 Basilisk
    115 Nil admirani
    92 3D kanojo

    • something something says:

Yeah it got posted on the 5ch thread (which is likely where yaraon got it from, there or the 2ch thread), so I’ll be adding it here shortly.

      • Mami Kawada Lover says:

        >3D Kanojo v1 sells 92 BDs, DVDs do not rank. 68.6% overestimated.
Oh my. It’s still getting a second season anyway, but it was definitely split-cour. Wondering how those poor sales will affect those S2 plans.

        >Saredo v1 sells 213 as a BD-only release. 32.8% overestimated.
Seems like yet another show that’s fallen to the fripSide curse. First Killing Bites and now this.

  5. something something says:

Updated the post to reflect the additional leaks.

  6. Arisa says:

How well is Hakumei to Mikochi doing with that number?

    • something something says:

It’s certainly more then a significant majority of slice of life shows, at the very least. There are a ton of shows I’d love to see have sold that much. Kadokawa leads the committee and handles both the manga and anime, so if the manga got a boost as well (which we wouldn’t have a great way of knowing) then I have to imagine this is considered a success.

      • Arisa says:

All right, thanks for the info! Yeah, there’s a lot more good CGDCT anime out there that deserves good sales but oh well, you can’t have everything. At the very least I’m happy that a masterpiece like Sora Yori is selling well and Hakumei to Mikochi, one of my personal favorite that seems to be underrated enough is getting good reception as well. Here’s hoping for a 2nd season.

  7. Anime9001 says:

Geez, What happened with Steins;Gate? Is it safe to say this is due to them releasing when only half the series is through, or is this probably because of just how long its been since the original? I honestly can’t understand those sales if it’s not one of these, particularly the former.

    • MK says:

Most sequels experience a drop in sales, so this is expected. Potential factors not as many people bought the BDs:
      1) Many interested fans will have already read the VN so this isn’t new or fresh to them.
      2) 7 year gap between anime (9 years since the first VN), it’s a lucky franchise that doesn’t have some decay over that period of time
      3) 0 is a side story to the main one rather than a direct sequel
      4) More subjective, but 0’s story is generally not considered as good as that of the original
      5) Also subjective, perhaps some displeasure at the new directors animation style, or the way White Fox is adapting the routes compared to the VN.

  8. PapaShango says:

Sad for 3 Gatsu no Lion.Probably no more seasons.Manga also sells pretty average.Where will the revenue come from? But very happy that Tokyo Ghoul re did very poor.Totally deserved for garbage adaptation done by a backup for studio clown.

    • something something says:

I think you’re much more worried about this series than you need to be. Disc sales shouldn’t be a big concern for this show. And like I said here, the manga sales are anything but “average”. What are you comparing it to?

Sure it may not get a third season, but most shows never do even when they’re successful.

  9. something something says:

Additional leaks more or less round out the full list for this week. The big addition (since we had the v1s leaked already) was a decent wk2 for SAO GGO, bringing it from 4.5k to 5.6k.

  10. NyankoSensei says:

    Hey i have a question
How mutch money does an anime have to earn to the succeed.. Calculated with the quality?

Sry for my Bad englisch xd

    • something something says:

There isn’t one number. Every show takes a different amount of money to make. And each show is funded by a group (usually 3-7 companies), each of which is responsible for a different aspect of producing/monetizing the show.

So not only is the break-even point of each show different, indeed each show has as many distinct break-even points as it has companies involved in its funding.

  11. something something says:

Alright we’ve got full lists, or something very close to them at least, for everything up to this week now. Source links are at the top of the posts as usual.

Full(ish) charts are lagging behind normal schedule by a lot, but at least they’re getting posted. Hopefully this continues.
