For some reason, only a Top 50 was released this week, not the usual Top 100.

Fall update:
Imas SideM v1 sells 13261/3774, total 17,035. 65.5%/24.9% underestimated. Event ticket. This is a marked increase on the prologue disc’s wk1, despite the event ticket being split with the prologue disc. It’s almost up to the prologue’s wk3 total already and will easily pass it next week. A good enough wk2 could put 20k v1 in reach.

Fate/Apoc v1 sells 6,184 as a BD-only release. 69.4% underestimated (high due to it being a high price item). Event ticket. A lower wk1 than the first season of Prisma Illya, and far below all other Fate/ entries, except Illya s2 onward.

Blend S v1 sells 2515/996, total 3,511. 35.0%/10.7% underestimated. Event ticket.

WUG Shinshou v1 sells 1,991 as a BD-only release. 13.2% underestimated. Event ticket.

Juuni Taisen v1 sells 840/770, total 1,610. 18.5%/1.7% underestimated. Event ticket.

Animegataries v1 sells 180 BDs, DVDs (all of which were released at once) do not rank. 17.4% underestimated. Series average: 180.

LL Sunshine s2 v1 adds 8305, total 50,073.

Osomatsu s2 v1 adds 1570/1710, total 13,601.

Deremas Gekijou s2 v2 adds 1266 BDs, total 8,121.

Yuyuyu s2 v1 adds 1075 BDs, total 5,849.

Summer update:
Owarimono s2 v2 adds 786 BDs, total 19,574.
v3, final volume, sells 16243/1937, total 18,180. Series average: 19,013. The lowest prior Monogatari season was Owari s1 at 29,094.

Katsugeki Tourabu v6, final volume, sells 5658/2301, total 7,959. Series average: 11,648. Hanamaru averaged 17,345 so even if Katsugeki has decent year-end additions it looks like slice of life sword boys won out.

Symphogear s4 v4 sells 8704/930, total 9,634. Feels like it’s still roughly keeping pace with s3’s normal sales, but may run slightly behind because s3 had the extended rankings. In any event it’ll be too close to be a meaningful difference, which is doubly impressive in this sequel-murdering year.

Past seasons:
Bahamut s2 v4, final volume, sells 2,190. Series average: 2,329. Basically on par with s1’s 2,551, which had a bit of a bump from the extended rankings that no longer exist.

Re:Creators v7, final volume, sells 1,835 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 2,258.

Granblue v6 adds 347 DVDs, total 45,349.
v7 adds 432 DVDs, total 46,638.
Series average: 45,376.

Bang Dream v7, final volume, adds 891, total 7,019. A weirdly big boost four weeks after it had last ranked at all. Presumably something tying into the mobage somehow. This one had had a rather weird sales pattern. Series average: 5,223.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Free Recap movie 2 adds 319 DVDs, total 12,515.

  1. AnimePhoenix says:

Glad to see SideM pulling in better than expected numbers! At least, I think it’s better than expected. I thought it would do ~10k. Something bright in this season. Katsugeki also did good, even if it’s not as good as Hanamaru. I wouldn’t mind a second season of Katsugeki either. I love me some Japanese historical anime.

    • something something says:

Hard to tell what’s expected when event tickets are involved, but this is certainly a strong start. I thought it’d run behind the prologue disc, so this sets the bar a bit higher for its possible average. 15k not out of the question, maybe? Depends a lot on its wk2s. Imas stuff can be pretty front-loaded but the prologue had an alright tail.

  2. Mami Kawada Lover says:

    >Animegataris v1 sells 180 BDs, DVDs (all of which were released at once) do not rank. 17.4% underestimated. Series average: 180.

Woah that’s awful. I know it wouldn’t sell well, but it did even worse than I thought it would.

Hopefully GARNiDELiA can recover with Beatless.

  3. Elio says:

Whew, Love Live Sunshine is still supreme, and that’s important.

  4. NukaCola says:

I thought Fate was like ultrapopular, though I remember Fate/Zero and the UBW taking the world by storm and etc, I never made it past those two entries, as I was getting a bit burnt out on it. I guess Im not the only one based on those numbers.

Sad Jupiter ends up falling below the main series, they deserve the popularity, my precious.

    GBF crossed 45K, go!.

    • something something says:

Fate as a franchise *is* ultra popular (or at least ultra profitable), more than it’s ever been due to FGO. That just didn’t bleed over to the Apocrypha anime.

  5. Momose says:

Concert event details for iDolish7 have been revealed, it’s quite literally a replica of Utapri’s. Will be held at the Seibu Dome and in two separate shows (July 7 & 8), meaning the organizers are confident enough to attract an audience size of about 70,000. Both DVD/BD vol.1 and vol.2 will have event tickets, so it’ll be interesting to see if sales can at the very least match Utapri’s ticket volumes. Ticket price’s slightly more expensive than Utapri’s at 9,900 yen per pop but I don’t think that’s going to be too much a concern for the fans.

    • Tuna says:

But which UtaPri seasons v1/2 are you comparing it to?

I kind of hope i7 does well, really awesome music it has both instrumentals and with vocals and the groups and separate duo etc units are actually good too (Mezzo).

  6. Mac says:

You mentioned that Apocrypha sold far worse than all other Fate/entries, which got me curious: how well did Carnival Phantasm sell?

I wonder if Extra will post similar unimpressive numbers too.

    • something something says:

Carnival Phantasm was released as game software, so it wasn’t tracked by Oricon. I don’t think it ranked on Media Create/Famitsu game trackers either. It was an odd sort of release so it’s hard to compare it to anything else.

  7. something something says:

Still no top 100 for this week, though we got one for the next week.

    • Kippers says:

Shame there’s no top-100. I’m sure Made in Abyss sold a few hundred BDs considering it was released midweek the previous week and volume 1 sold a few hundred in the 2nd week as well.

      • something something says:

Yeah probably another 300 or so in its second week. With the extended rankings gone for a while now, we’re definitely missing out on a bit of long tail data. Made in Abyss v1 ranked 6 times despite only making the top 100 twice, while v2 has ranked 3 times but we only saw it once.
