If you’re wondering, I believe the Utapri stage play is a situation of only the RE being tracked (the rankings explicitly state RE) by Oricon, the LE presumably being Animate exclusive and not in Oricon’s database.

Fall update:
Deremas Gekijou s2 v1 sells 7129/763, total 7,892. 0.8%/11.8% overestimated. Event ticket. Though, not a major event ticket like the one that gave s1v1 a 44k total. This is one of the best examples yet that “event ticket” doesn’t always mean the same thing, and we need to not just know when there is an event ticket, but to know what kind it is to know if it’ll impact sales much. Not only isn’t this the big yearly live, but access to the ticket is split across four releases: 2 BDs from this season and two CDs, one of which came out a month ago. So more minor event + lots of ways to get it = 44k to 8k for what’s just a continuation of the same show basically. All that said, still very good for a short, if a somewhat hilarious drop taken out of context.

Mahoyome v1 sells 6,168. Event ticket. BD-only release. 109.7% underestimated, a result of the high price penalty at Stalker plus really solid Animate rankings.

DreamFes s2 v1 sells 525/266, total 791. 5.6%/21.3% overestimated.

Summer update:
Ballroom v1 sells 830/212, total 1,042. 24.3%/19.4% overestimated. Event ticket.

Owarimono s2 v2 sells 15500/1817, total 17,317.

Symphogear s4 v3 sells 8944/919, total 9,863. It’s still tracking so close to (and slightly ahead of) GX it’s uncanny, even after the event ticket vols. s4v3wk1 is 9,863 vs s2v3wk1’s 9,751. It should manage another season on season increase, albeit a tiny one. Though s3 had the extended rankings while s4 doesn’t, so the bump should actually be very slightly more than whatever it ends up being.

Saiyuuki Reload Blast v4, final volume, sells 2167/1595, total 3,762. Series average: 4,264.

New Game s2 v3 sells 3149/384, total 3,533.

Hajimete no Gal v3 sells 1181/348, total 1,529.

Vatican Chousakan v3, final volume, sells 707/374, total 1,081. Series average: 1,168.

Tenshi no 3P v3 sells 1,017 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Gamers v3 sells 942 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Guruguru v2 sells 667 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Katsugeki Tourabu v5 adds 641/346, total 9,411.

Pripri v3 adds 674 BDs, total 5,697.

Not tracked by Oricon, so no data:
Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita. – Probably falls under porn like that recent monk show, thus not tracked.

Past seasons:
Granblue v7, final volume, sells 23552/17584, total 41,136.
v1 adds 591 DVDs, total 55,829.
v2 adds 411/595, total 44,746.
v3 adds 437/703, total 42,090.
v4 adds 552/838, total 40,160.
v5 adds 690/879, total 39,009.
v6 adds 1044/12515, total 42,971.
Series average: 43,706. Filled in a ton of missing weeks for the BDs, though we would have eventually, gotten them in the year-end lists anyway. Only v1 BD didn’t rank this week so there’s probably another 2k waiting there. A 45k average isn’t out of the question.

sin Nanatai v6 sells 2115/509, total 2,624.

Akashic Records v6, final volume, sells 1432/436, total 1,868. Series average: 1,991.

Sukasuka v6, final volume, sells 1,496 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 1,417.

Sword Oratoria v6, final volume, sells 1,333 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 1,316.

Busou Shoujo v6, final volume, sells 779 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 831.

Saekano s2 v5 adds 692 BDs, total 6,835.

Eromanga-sensei v6, final volume, adds 820 BDs, total 6,579. Series average: 7,502.

Starmyu s2 v6, final volume, adds 338 BDs, total 3,635. Series average: 5,660.

Haine v6, final volume, adds 287 DVDs, total 1,608.

Imas SideM Prologue adds 1016/409, total 15,555.

  1. Shiro says:

What the hell happend with Ballroom e Youkoso??? I din’t expected much but 830 BDs is really shocking me right now…

    • something something says:

Stalker’s BD estimate was only about 1k (plus about 200 for DVDs, which didnt’ rank) so it fits in with that pretty well. It just never caught on.

    • MK says:

I guess it’s that 1) It never found its’ audience and 2) even within whatever audience it had, people were let down by the iffy animation, unengaging dance sequences, and weak (especially female) characters. It could have been so much more – I imagine these sales are probably a major disappointment to Production IG.

      • Elio says:

They had the opportunity to omnipander full force to both genders with a dance sports show, and they botched it royally. Now we’re never going to get another sports show like Ballroom for a long time.

      • Tuna says:

The source material is well acclaimed I thought, so I cant imagine PIG is at fault for the female characters.

      • hikari says:

Production IG is not the top producer or leading the committee for Ballroom, it’s Pony Canyon (basically the order from top to bottom: PC-Kodansha-IG-Animatic-Dentsu-etc), so depending how the contract goes which we are not privy of, we don’t know for sure how much money/stake that IG had on Ballroom…but Pony Canyon is definitely the one that taking the most risk on the project. Maybe it’s major disappointment, maybe only mediocre or little, who knows really…..

On the other hand, Production IG along with the whole IG port are definitely their own leading committee on MahoYome, so I’m pretty sure they quite satisfied with its performances so far, their holding the streaming licenses themselves, the manga licensed and sales through Mag Garden which had great sales thus far, and now the BD sales also quite decent/solid for them.

  2. Tuna says:

Week 1 and swimsuit gran and djeeta already have GBF aligned to overtake the voiced gran and djeete of v6, nice. I wonder if it will pass dark kat of v1.

Aniplex did good in positioning the animes releases at a time when the game is still hot. Its also wide appeal probably helped it too.

  3. Specs says:

I’m surprised that Ballroom is off to such a rocky start considering all the slight shade the director was throwing at YOI and it’s creators. //sips tea

    • something something says:

I understand the schadenfreude but it’s highly unlikely there’s an actual cause-and-effect relationship there.

    • AnimePhoenix says:

I think Ballroom just didn’t click with the Japanese audience. I watched it but dropped it halfway because it was just meh for me. Animation aside, the plot also bothered me.

      A shame.

  4. derpinat0r says:

    >Jojo pt4

is this 2nd season of stardust crusaders or is it Diamond is Unbreakable?

  5. AnimePhoenix says:

Stamryu season 3, here we come~
SideM is also doing nicely, good good. It’s my idol show this Fall. I like it much better than TsukiAni or….Dynamic Chord (lol).

  6. something something says:

    Updated with the full list.

  7. Anonymous says:

Kind of odd to see both Gamers and Tenshi no 3P selling really poorly considering how much discussion they were generating online.

Wonder if Pine Jam can overcome this, since Just Because looks like it might not sell well either.

    • something something says:

I don’t know who is on the Just Because production committee, but Pine Jam isn’t even on Tenshi no 3P’s committee, so its success or failure does not directly affect them. They were paid a fee to animate it, and that’s that. They’re not carrying any risk for its failure, nor would they share in its success. It’s probably the same for Just Because, where they’re either not on the committee or are pretty low down.

  8. Anonymous says:

Actually Pine Jam did Gamers, not Tenshi no 3P.
