Spring update:
Granblue v1 adds 2371/1609, total 48,798. Now that’s a much bigger wk3 than I expected, after a small-ish wk2. 4k added this week vs 2.9k last week. Stock issues, or maybe some new info about the bonuses? In any case we’ll at least see v1 cross 50k now.

Winter update:
AoEx s2 v3 sells 1123/744, total 1,867.

Minakama v2 sells 270 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Konosuba s2 v2 adds 159 BDs, total 9,240.

Past seasons:
Utapri s4 v5 sells 9330/4190, total 13,520.

LL Sunshine v7, final volume, adds 221, total 64,330. Series average: 54,351.

YOI v1 adds 176 BDs, total 74,605 in wk20, meaning it added 696 in wks 17-19.
v2 adds 193 BDs, total 67,153.
v3 adds 217/116, total 61,224 in wk12, meaning it added 504 DVDs in wks9-11.
v4 adds 275/147, total 58,509.
v5 adds 1117/470, total 55,751.
Some very low thresholds bring v3 DVDs back to fill in 4 weeks of data, and v1 makes an appearance too. It’s at a 63,448 average now gong into its last volume so I think taking #6 since 2000 is a lock now. v6 wouldn’t even need to sell more than about 53k lifetime to make it happen, and it ought to pass that by its second week. If v6 only even reaches v5’s current level the average will be >62k.

Jojo pt4 v11 adds 134 BDs, total 6,832.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Mamotte Shugogetten BD Box sells 804.

Grisaia s2 BD Box sells 529.

  1. Yaoi-Senpai says:

OMG I’M THE HAPPIEST PERSON ALIVE XD I AM SO HAPPY!
I hope the vol.4 reach at 60k copies as well.

  2. makotachi says:

YOI completely wrecked all of my expectations for it. It really did become one of the best selling anime. To think, a series with a homosexual couple would be in the top ten best selling recent anime to ever exist. I’ve never been so pleased by an anime. I hope the movie will do just as well!

Also, thanks for doing this tracking thing all the time. It really is a handy little thing as well as interesting. Thanks for the work you put into it!

    • Whocares says:

YOI has become the fourth best selling anime (2010’s)

    • ayumi says:

Me too! I was hoping for it to be in the Top 50 best selling titles but never thought it could be one of THE best selling titles EVER in history. It really exceeded expectations. I’m glad it didn’t turn out to be a queerbait show. It just proves they can go all the way without offending some viewers.

    • Davv says:

I remember that before the premiere it was hardly an anticipated show among Japanese or Western otaku. Nobody seemed to expect it to rise above the herd in popularity. Looking back at the discussions here, the idea that it might reach 10,000 was only mooted a few episodes in. The expectations kept rising, and kept being surpassed.

(Now if only the other fine series I’ve liked could sell 10% of what Yuri on Ice has …)

      • Anya says:

well episode 7 made preorders explode, so it wasn’t the sport aspect of the show that made people want to buy it XD

  3. Cyssa says:

Once again, I’m so happy that YOI is still adding a few hundred more dvds and blu-rays to their numbers! Also I can say that it’s surpassing my expectations. I’m curious if the thresholds will be low enough so I can see if vol 1 is closer to 75k or not when the full list is posted.

    • something something says:

It might actually be more fun for it to not rank in any of the weekly lists so we can see what kind of boost it gets in the mid-year ranking. As it stands, the mid-year rankings won’t do much for YOI at all because it keeps making the weekly rankings lol.

      • Cyssa says:

lol Really, if YOI continues to appear in the rankings there will be nothing left to see later in the mid-year ranking, but that doesn’t bother me at all :) I’m already having a lot of fun imagining how much vol 6 will need to sell to ensure the #6 best selling anime with a maximum of 2 weeks of sales.

  4. AnimePhoenix says:

I’m nearly in tears. Yuri!!! on Ice just keeps making things better. Bless Japan, bless Kubo, bless Sayo, bless Mappa, bless everyone.

    • something something says:

Avex is still shitgarbage but Amiami definitely played with fire by just crossing their fingers and hoping Avex forgot about them.

      • hpulley says:

Seems like Avex made it even worse for Amiami for flaunting the bad. Even their prior orders and shipments within Japan are cancelled, it seems. I guess Avex won’t give them any more products at all.

Sure hope this doesn’t affect things ordered from CDJAPAN before the deadline.

Sadly I can only get WUG’s new single from iTunes Japan…

        Avex is the worst.

        • Anonymous says:

          Yeah, I got an email from amiami last night saying my order of WUG’s new single was cancelled, too. Fucking Avex ;_;

  5. Suruhi says:

How many DVD / Blu-ray have to be sold to say that it’s going well?

  6. KoalaZ says:

    Anime is a mistake.

  7. Yaoi-Senpai says:

    Full list is out? Thanks.

OMG YOI VOL 1-5 ARE ALL RANKING <3

  8. Cyssa says:

OMG! YOI average can reach even 62k? It’s so great!!!
