Winter update:
Maidragon v1 sells 2330/409, total 2,739. 16.2/31.8% overestimated. Event ticket.

AoEx s2 v1 adds 209/237, total 3,463.

Fall update:
Anitore! XX sells 1,295 as a one-shot BD-only release, so this is also the series average. 39.6% overestimated. Down from 1,699 s1wk1.

Teekyuu s8 sells 951 as a one-shot BD-only release, so this is also the series average. 45.7% overestimated. Down from 1,177 s7.

Mahou Shoujo Nante s2 sells 477 as a one-shot BD-only release, so this is also the series average. 54.2% overestimated.

Tourabu v4 sells 6897/5597, total 12,494.

Haikyuu s3 v4 sells 4360/3587, total 7,947. If it’s going to average 10k, it’ll definitely need that mid-year ranking boost. I don’t see it getting there with normal weekly rankings.

Eupho s2 v4 sells 4573/1328, total 5,901. Something is weird here – it looks like about 900 discs shifted from BD to DVD compared to last time. The v4wk1 total is very close to v3wk1, but the DVDs are tripled while the BD is down by about as much as the DVDs increased. It wouldn’t be the first time Oricon accidentally reported some portion of one format’s sales as the other format, although it’s very rare. The last big case was Mahouka, but there they just reversed the two rather than misreported just a portion of sales.
v3 adds 233 BDs, total 6,999 in wk5, meaning it added 330 in wks 3-4.

Show By Rock s2 v4 sells 1,639 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Magic-kyun v4 sells 895/426, total 1,321.

YOI v3 adds 364 BDs, total 57,171.

Utapri s4 v3 adds 2135/863, total 16,665. Down 61% on v2 and 68% on v1. Utapri ticket drops are harsh.

Past seasons:
Saiki Kusuo v4, final volume, sells 1087/330, total 1,417. Series average: 1,090.

Days v6 sells 403/526, total 929.

orange v7, final volume, sells 232 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 214.

LL Sunshine v5 adds 2130, total 42,330.
v6 adds 1949, total 40,718. Still eating up whatever inadequate stock Bandai produces each week. It’s still astonishing how badly they misread this. Or would be if they didn’t do this all the time.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
AnsaKyou Movie sells 748/911, total 1,659.

Shingeki BD Box sells 1027/116, total 1,143. Yikes. My feeling that s2 is going to see a crash from s1 gets stronger and stronger. A 52k series selling 1k in a BD box right before a sequel comes out is, uhhhhhhhhh… not ideal? It wasn’t even an expensive set, ¥35k for the whole two cour show. I mean Shingeki s2 will still outsell all but a handful of shows this year, may even be top 3, but it’ll take something crazy for it to get anywhere near s1’s sales. Wonder if they’ll do an event ticket this time?

Walkure Romanze BD Box sells 363.

Inukami BD Box sells 230.

Yuyushiki OVA adds 306 BDs, total 10,105. Wooooooo, 10k get. Happy Birthday, Yuzuko! From 3,334 singles to a 4,470 BD Bo to a 10,105 OVA. C’mon, season two wheeeeeeeen?

Sword Art Online BD Box adds 248, total 7,871. Good legs, adding 2.6k after wk1, no doubt due to the film.

Kinmosa OVA adds 271 BDs, total 7,070. Nice to see it hit 7k, unfortunately probably won’t rank again else it’d be the second highest ranking disc in the series behind s1v1. But it’s right behind s2v1 and that has extended ranking help so this will definitely end higher than that.

I’m very excited for Tsukiuta sale next week. See Tsukiuta dethrone Yuri on Ice and Love Live on Animate Daily Ranking on the pre sale day make me curious.

  2. atala says:

Isn’t YOI vol. 4 coming out next week? It usually comes out between the 24th and the 27th

  3. Tuna says:

Hand Shakers next week…my anime of the season, bracing for its low impact sales. Hopefully it will at least get 1000.

I do not believe only 70 or so discs of monhun ride on were sold. Its so fun. Anime buyers hate fun , im learning.

  4. Anonymous says:

Why the hell are people saying Kemono Friends is selling 150k+ and destroying Bake in preorders? Am I missing something?

    • something
      something says:

It’s being released as a book with a bundled BD so it can’t really be compared, whatever the numbers are. Also it’s irrelevant to this website or anime sales.

    • JJ says:

While this off topic to the website, I thought it would be okay to discuss briefly in the comments for clarity. KF is located in the books section in Oricon, which has much higher thresholds than the BD section. On the list of 50, the lowest was 6600. Kemono didn’t make top 50. So all we know is that it sold less than that in its first week. It has serious stock issues so it’ll probably increase substationally but 150k seems extremely unlikely and was just an internet rumor.

      • AnimePhoenix says:

Pretty much this. I hope the stock issues get solved. Otherwise, if they just stalk it bit by bit, it might not rank at all.

I don’t know where that 150k rumor came from, and I found it hard to believe.

  5. GNozaki says:

Next week/tomorrow it will be interesting to see the numbers.

  6. Chad says:

Wow. Maid Dragon is doing a lot worse than I expected.

  7. GintoKi_KotAro says:

what happened to Gangsta before? i mean after manglobe bankruptcy they didn’t released any disc isn’t? but now hmmmm

    • Siliziumleben says:

Bandai Visual released Vol.1 and 2 and then put further volumes on hold. That happened 12.2015 or 01.2016.
Manglobe was not the disc publisher, but their bankruptcy probably affected the delivery of material for the BD version. Depending if Bandai(?) felt that stuff had to be cleaned up/redrawn for the retail release. they would have to hire someone else to do that. I don’t know if they have redrawn anything, I will get Vol.3 by the end of this week, but I think just getting the necessary stuff from a company that is shutting down takes some time and then you have to sort out what you will do.
