Spring update:
HeroAca v1 sells 2511/2184, total 4,695. 11.9% under/1.2% overestimated. Event ticket.

Sansan v1 sells 2209/469, total 2,678. 8.0/12.5% overestimated. Event ticket.

Sailor Moon Crystal s3 v1 sells 1400/328, total 1,728. No estimate on Stalker. Event ticket. A relatively large drop on even the lowest volume of s1-2 even though this is a much cheaper release on a per-ep basis.

Jojo pt4 v1 adds 652/257 DVDs, total 8,877.

Haifuri v1 adds 1175/232, total 8,078. Solid wk2. Lucky those DVDs got in, pulls it over 8k.

Re:Zero v1 adds 1436/267, total 8,049. Strong wk2, unsurprisingly. Ditto above, 8k thanks to DVDs slipping in.

Winter update:
Koyomimonogatari sells 23506 BDs, 3166/232 DVDs, total 26,672. 5.9/25.5/54.3% overestimated. No event ticket. RE DVDs ranked, oddly enough. Right on par with Owari volumes. Top seller of Winter as expected, though it’s a one-shot release that only cost ¥11k so it’s not exactly turning the season around by itself.

Osomatsu-san v5 adds 245/378, total 53,779.

  1. BlackPoint says:

Both Re:Zero and Konosuba once again had this time a strong 2nd week, also bungo stray dogs selling really good i saw it was limited edition does that mean it only has the event ticket or does it have any more other stuff that made ppl buy it?

    • Ejc says:

“Limited Edition” is what everyone usually buys anyway, regardless if there is a sought out bonus or not bundled with it. If the “Regular Edition” had a sought out bonus, people would buy that instead, or likely the DVD since it’s cheaper.

      • Nico says:

Regular edition barely exist these days.

      • BlackPoint says:

ye but sometimes they put like some sort of games(that they promote) etc as bonus which makes a few more ppl buy thats why i was wondering if there was anything special that made ppl buy it^^

  2. Prima says:

Stray dogs seem unexpectedly strong considering the lack of hype in English fandom. Looking at the high DVD percentage, is it a fujoshi title with popular va?

    • something something says:

There’s an event ticket and popular seiyuu (Miyano Mamoru, Kamiya Hiroshi, etc) driving these sales, yes. It sold well at Animate.

    • Billy says:

It has the strongest fandom in Japan even surpassing Re:Zero & Kabaneri for the Spring new anime. If you observe how much the follower on the official twitter account on those Spring new anime, Bungo stray dogs has the biggest follower(not to mention a sequel anime, like JoJo). And again in every polling the toppest anime in spring season ‘based on the Japanese people’, it always ranked 1 or below abit. so it has to be expected if the BD&DVD’s are selling well because seems like it’s pretty popular in there

      • something something says:

Measuring fandom is incredibly tricky. Those internet polls for favorite anime of ‘x’ season are also notoriously off from reality, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in those.

It’s certainly got a solid fanbase, but measuring popularity based on twitter account followers and unscientific surveys is sketchy at best.

  3. Tiago says:

    Rezero and natsume :)

  4. uchiha madara says:

    wow!!!!
    i didn’t expected strong w2 like that for re:zero!!!
i think now we maybe can call this number very good?
also natsume box probably we will se it next week maybe
boku no hero,i was think it would not penetrate the barrier of 3.5k

    • something something says:

Sure 8k is very sold, but don’t worry too much about calling vol 1 numbers good. It’s really about the average sales in the end.

  5. Rick Grimes says:

bungou stray dogs sales make me happy ….

  6. final fantasy says:

boku no hero sales not that good,But for anime shonen other sales, it’s not too bad, maybe?

    • something something says:

It’s -okayish-, but it’ll probably end up averaging no better than 4k. It’s the type of franchise that will make up its revenue in other ways even if disc sales are average or mediocre. But of course, selling more discs is never a bad thing.

      • Gin-san says:

is boku no hero anime like the almost other shonen anime,Is boku no hero anime sales is not important for him or not focused on it?

        • something something says:

Video discs are probably not make-or-break though they would have been nice to have, considering its TV ratings are low. Some parts of the committee are going to do better than others on this one.

  7. willy says:

wait so why isn’t there jojo bd sells. Does that means it didn’t sell anything. LOL

    • something something says:

Note the threshold on the charts. Not ranking doesn’t mean zero, it means less than whatever the cutoff is. Right now the cutoff is 693 for BD so it could have sold 692 for all we know.

More data will be released at the end of the week and we should see the week 2 BD sales then.

  8. moodie says:

For everyone saying spring anime is looking bad I see more 8ks then in the spring. Might just be eyeballing it but its looking good. Ya no 10k is sad but Spring has more 5k+ than winter did.

    • something something says:

I wouldn’t use Winter 2016 as the metric against which “good” is evaluated!

And big hits matter because they pay for all the unsuccessful shows. 8ks are nice (though keep in mind these are ticket-boosted v1 numbers) but they aren’t replacements for 15k, 20k, 30k sellers. The industry needs hits.

  9. Progeusz says:

Yay, Re:zero had a strong week2 like I hoped. A shame it’s still below Haifuri but next week should fix that.
    Flying Witch looks a bit better but still ;_;

Congrats to Koyomi for somewhat saving Winter.

  10. Hahalollawl says:

Do you think people buying the RE (e.g. of koyomi) are buying it to get every version because they are just that devout fans of it, or are buying only the RE?

    • something something says:

Probably just buying it to save a little but of money on a release that’s largely recap. It’s only 0.86% of wk1 sales.

  11. something something says:

Updated with the full ranking. Vol. 1 ranking also updated: http://www.someanithing.com/4938.

    • Gin-san says:

is there different between full ranking and extended ranking?

      • Progeusz says:

Full ranking covers weekly top100, extended ranking covered weekly top300 and it was possible to track every release changing on weekly basis. Extended rankings are unavailable now though.

  12. Mami Kawada Lover says:

Good to see KonoSuba’s still doing well.

Also, while this comment is intended for the older post, really disappointed at AoKana’s performance. Seems the next two volumes will do sub-1k which is frankly quite poor. What a way to go out for Mami (and not in a good way).

    • Progeusz says:

We knew AoKana would perform like that three months ago already, I’m not sure if this can be considered a disappointment at this point.

  13. Anonymous says:

Well Tekketsu didn’t hit average +10k till now… It’s a sign that Gundam franchise can’t live at nowdays expectation, even the Gunpla sales for IBO doesn’t really good (except Barbatos and few of kits)

Still waiting for Macross Delta if they can surprass Tekketsu or not.

  14. stargunner says:

unfortunate sailor moon crystal numbers. it’s a shame because this season is remarkably better in every aspect than the first 2.
