Winter update:
Phantom World v2 sells 1708/337, total 2,045.

Divine Gate v2 sells 656/961, total 1,617.

Konosuba v2 adds 218 BDs, total 10,210. I had this as a lock for 10k average, though it’s possible that it could fall just short due to losing the extended rankings. I guess we’ll see. There’s only three volumes left so it should hold on if each of the coming volumes keeps within a 6% drop of the previous volume. 11,566 at the moment.

Fall update:
Osomatsu-san v1 adds 269 DVDs, total 112,548.
v2 adds 232 DVDs, total 83,551.
v3 adds 308 DVDs, total 65,492.
v4 adds 866/1332, total 57,222.

Owarimonogatari v5, final volume, adds 371 BDs, total 26,080. Series average: 27,395.

Gochiusa s2 v5 adds 730/130, total 10,327. Slightly ahead of v4 due to the quirks of thresholds and how this disc was reported.

Past seasons:
World Trigger v15 sells 768/334, total 1,102.

Oregairu s2 v7, final volume, adds 225 BDs, total 9,930. Series average: 11,039. Up from 10,159 s1.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Tamayura Movie 4 sells 2916/424, total 3,340.

Saiyuki DVD box sells 211.

Garupan OVA adds 408 BDs, total 60,364. Finally the 60k mark, in week 64!
v1 2015 release adds 306, total 9,403 in wk28.
v2 2015 release adds 337, total 8,387 in wk26.
v3 2015 release adds 336, total 7,977 in wk27.
v4 2015 release adds 327, total 7,166 in wk25.
v5 2015 release adds 318, total 7,310 in wk27.
v6 2015 release adds 328, total 7,274 in wk25. Re-release average: 7,920. All six ranked… in the prelims. Granted the prelims this week may cover almost the whole top 100 with such low thresholds. All of these have more than tripled their wk1 sales. Its revenue is ¥332m now, which if it were a BD box would slot in at #29 between K-ON! and Clannad.

Code Geass Akito v5, final volume, adds 350 BDs, total 21,935. Series average: 29,021. I finally added this to my spreadsheet so it’s covered under the quick view OVAs table.

  1. BlackPoint says:

The animes from winter really got some bad sells, really didnt expect that poor sells for musaigen even though it wasnt anythin special really in my eyes, also iam surprised that divine gate is still kinda selling 1.5-2k was expecting that it would sell up to max 1k after such a dissapointement good start and then it just got worse and worse with each ep :/

I don’t understand why you continue to use “Animes”, when “Anime” is both singular and plural.

Anyway, if you regularly look at Amazon Stalker, you will rarely be surprised with how a certain anime sells in a given season. Only when we get into anime with strong storefront performance, then there can be quite a few surprises there. Can we dare imagine a world without Amazon Stalker to give us ballpark estimates on how anime in a given season will end up selling?

      • BlackPoint says:

well i dont follow amazon stalker so…i always base the sells upon how i see the anime is received etc and well anime/animes idk kinda got used to using animes word for plural cuz it kinda sounded the most right thing but well thats what happens when ya only learn english at school for 2years the basic stuff and the rest you just get most of it at internet later on, but improving bit by bit each time will try to get used to that its just anime always^^

        How awful.

  2. zoro says:

    a weak week doesn’t it?

    • something something says:

There were no major new releases this week or last, so yeah it’s very quiet this week. Next week (5/16-22) will be bigger but not huge, but the week after (5/23-29) will be the really busy week for May.

      • zoro says:

can i ask you a question
if any anime average sales was 2000k
is this a good average sales?

        • something something says:

          I assume you mean 2,000 and not 2,000,000 (2,000k) , heh.

2k is… meh. It’s hard to ever call 2k “good”. It can’t necessarily be called a “flop” either because a ton of considerations besides disc sales go into whether an anime was financially successful. But nobody is ever going to be impressed with 2k and the video disc publisher certainly isn’t going to print out the sales report and pin it on their refrigerator with pride.

The only time 2k is noteworthy is if it’s a short show, like those 3-8 minute series that we get a few of each season. Those only rarely top 2k.

  3. something something says:

    Updated with the full ranking.

I’ll still monitor the extended ranking Top 100 that’s still available on Oricon’s site, I just won’t post anything about it most weeks because not much is going to change besides some big mainstream movies. Just the top 100 in each format is basically worthless.
