  1. fourteenwings says:

Poor GaraKowa, I quite liked it.

    • something something says:

I /think/ it was also sold at theaters and thus actual sales should be higher than this, but no idea if that accounted for a lot or just a couple hundred tops.

  2. NukaCola says:

    Yowapeda movie wow. Nice.

  3. Anon says:

    Mikakunin S2 please.

  4. AnimePhoenix says:

Go go go YowaPeda! Amazing sales!

I feel so bad for Noragami Aragoto…but it’s a miracle that a season 2 was made in the first place so I won’t complain much!

Now to start praying that Stamyu v3 manages 5k next week.

  5. kollx says:

Why was shinmai down form 4k to 3.9k in series data? You change to correct it right?

    • something something says:

Another volume came out. The average gets recalculated every time I update it based on whatever the latest data is. The average will keep changing until the last volume is out and is done ranking.

It had a 4,015 average after volume one. Volume two has sold 3,945, so the new average is 3,980 (as of the latest data, 3,942 as of the last time I updated the quick view list).

  6. Rick Grimes says:

is there any hope that aragoto will reach half of noragami s1 sales?

and how do event tickets affect sales?

    • something something says:

Too early to say. If v2+ don’t drop a lot, it’ll probably average like 2.4k or something, which is more than half of s1’s 4,380 average.

Event tickets are (most often) a chance to be entered into a lottery to get a ticket to attend a live event. For each copy of the disc you purchase, you get a code that serves as a lottery entry. If your number is picked, you’re allowed to buy a ticket. As you can imagine, if you want to attend one of these events, you’re going to want to buy the DVD/BD and get that ticket chance. If the event is in high demand, this can boost sales of that DVD/BD volume quite a lot.

There are different types of lotteries (some may guarantee a ticket, some not; some may require an additional purchase, some not) and different kinds of events (from low-key events where the staff and seiyuu chat about the show and maybe do some skits to full-blown concerts with tens of thousands of people in attendance).

So the effect of an event ticket lottery on a disc varies hugely.

      • Ejc says:

        > For each copy of the disc you purchase, you get a code that serves as a lottery entry.

For some anime, this is no longer the case, such as Love Live. They have applied a policy where only one serial code per person is valid for entry into the lottery, which makes buying multiple copies essentially no longer necessary, as it will not further improve your chances anymore. You cannot also get friends to enter for you, as you will need to provide your personal details in a later step after entering the serial code in, and they do check your ID when you enter the concert venue. Therefore, only your friend would be able to attend if they were to win instead of you. This obviously hurt the number of sales that could be obtained, but it was done to give fans an equal playing field rather than a few rich fans scoring multiple tickets.

Pretty much the driving force of the Love Live Movie sales would have been…

        ● the actual number of fans interested in attending the 6th live concert, major factor.
        ● fans who do not regularly check the official website or Twitter specifically stating this 1 valid serial per person policy, and would’ve still assumed multiple tickets would improve your chances. This would not be a very significant number of people though.
        ● mobile game card collectors (as the serial code to redeem an ingame card are actually weaker than the rarity equivalent), this would’ve been far fewer in number than the ones wanting the event ticket, but could be in the same group as them.

Those osomatsu san and haikyuu sales are nice, but those noragami ones make me kind of sad.
