Spring update:
Shokugeki v1 sells 1619/453, total 2,072.

Danmachi v2 sells 4123/713, total 4,836. Down only 5.8% on v1wk1.

Yuki-chan v2 sells 1915/334, total 2,249. Down 10.9% on v1wk1.

Pleiades v2 sells 1,712 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Triage X v2 sells 1136/306, total 1,469, DVDs from extended. Down 15.1% on v1wk1.

Kekkaisen v3 adds 468/226, total 16,610. DVDs from extended.

Oregairu s2 v2 adds 1200/285, total 12,151. DVDs from extended. Should be in for very little drop on v1, especially if DVDs get a wk1 2 in the extended.

Gintama° v1 adds 461/553, total 8,947.

Euphonium v2 adds 335 BDs, total 8,481.

Show By Rock v2 adds 560 BDs, total 6,906.

DxD BorN v1 adds 763/311, total 6,644.

Arslan v1 adds 439/428, total 5,219.

Kinmosa s2 v2 adds 699 BDs, total 4,880.

Nisekoi s2 adds 385 BDs, total 3,915.

Owari no Seraph adds 369/280, total 2,998. DVDs from extended.

Winter update:
Kancolle v5 sells 11070/1995, total 13,065.

Jojo s3 v4 sells 6829/1373, total 8,202. Slight increase on v32k1, so at worst it should remain consistent. After wk2-3 the average should be over 10k again but it’s going to be the first season to drop below 10k final average. Probably a high 9.

Shinmai Maou v5 sells 3124/845, total 3,969.

Ansakyou v5 sells 830/904, total 1,734.

Tokyo Ghoul s2 v5 sells 867/408, total 1,275.

Deremas v3 adds 1082/153, total 25,196. DVDs from extended. As usual, a wk2 for G4U isn’t going to happen due to thresholds. Better standalone BD wk2 than v2.

Kurobas s3 v4 adds 1326/1513, total 12,314. Decent wk2 but doesn’t really offset the big wk1 drop. 46% off of v1 at the moment.

Aldnoah s2 v5, final volume, adds 449 BDs, total 5,901. Series average: 6,515.

Dog Days s3 v5 adds 487/173, total 4,709. DVDs from extended.

Drrr s2 v6, final volume, adds 356/263, total 3,541. Series average: 4,603.

Isuca v5 sells 554/166, total 720. DVDs from extended. Series average: 852.

Past seasons:
WUG Zoo sells 754. One-shot BD-only release, Fall 2014.

Shirobako v7 sells 13398/543, total 13,941.

Kimiuso v6 adds 494/148, total 7,642. DVDs from extended.

G Reco v8 adds 670 BDs, total 6,975.

Crossange v8, final volume, adds 570 BDs, total 5,463. Series average: 6,370.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Strike Witches OVA v3 sells 6927/5170 BD and 921 DVDs, total 13,018. Once again, bizarrely giving the Amazon edition a separate entry, something Oricon never does for other releases.

Date A Live BD Box sells 1,031.

Psycho-Pass Movie adds 1068/483 BDs, 242/261 DVDs, total 41,392.

Grisaia no Meikyuu adds 371 BDs, total 3,792.

Garupan re-re-release:
v1 adds 319, total 3,022.
v2 adds 273, total 2,854.
v3 adds 437, total 2,391.
v4 adds 201, total 2,139.
v5 adds 251, total 2,169.
v6 adds 255, total 2,187.

    • primadog says:

Symphogear is certainly going to fall back to mortal levels. Rest of the list is rather depressing to look at though. Is this summer really going to have only one 10k+ show?

      • something something says:

We’ll probably see TLR and maybe one new show with a late surge (Prison School? Overlord? Ushio to Tors feels more Amazon-biased than those but it’s another distant possibility) hit 10k v1, but anything other than Symphogear hitting 10k *average* looks pretty damn rough and will require a big turnaround. Not a good season at the top at all.

Most disappointing is how Non Non is dropping, although that one has good storefront rankings and should be underestimated. After Kinmosa’s drop I was hoping some slice of life franchise would maintain good sales consistency, but I’m not too optimistic yet. Fingers crossed for Yuru Yuri and Gochiusa next season. YRYR is on its third though, third seasons tend to drop badly even for consistent shows. OVA did very well though, so maybe it’s bizarrely resilient?

I’d also be disappointed as Gakkou Gurashi’s performance but it’s entirely expected, and I’m just happy the manga managed to quadruple its lifetime sales in 10 days. Now if they could only get it back in stock so it could keep selling, wouldn’t that be nice? I wonder how the Kindle numbers look, though we don’t ever get those reported.

And while I’m not watching it, Crowds Insight’s plunge is maybe further proof along with YamaSusu that switching a sequel to singles after a boxset season one is not the best strategy. They’re looking frighteningly similar actually, with s2 driving consistent sales of the cheap s1 box but not helping s2 itself out much. Very odd! Possible that being an NTV show brought in a lot of more mainstream buyers who are used to buying their TV series in boxsets. If that’s the case, kind of a dumb move to switch to singles for s2, especially since the cost isn’t *that* much higher. Not that NTV shows rely on disc sales, of course.

Symphogear estimate is currently 25,097 so it’s dropped by half since Gatmar took the numbers on 8/02 as those #1 days dropped out of the estimates.

        • Gatmar says:

i am not surprised by sympoger’s sudden drop..it really looked like it was overestimated..besides these they tend to fluctuate a lot in these early stages…the pre order sales will better reflect the actual sales numbers close to when around half to 3/4ths of the anime already aired…so u should expect a bit more fluctuation until the end of the month…Out of all the series that are airing right now…Overlord and Prison school have the best chance of might be able to reach 10k averages but right now it sitll of a long shot…

What i am more surprised is how so many sequel series are doing os poorly right now even mroe than the expeced usual drop….I can’t really explain at this point yet.

          • something something says:

For those who might not get what we’re talking about, here’s a visual that explains why the estimates were so high initially: http://i.imgur.com/jVb8KUD.png

The non-Amazon LE BD has had a stable rank, and its estimate has accordingly been very stable. It’s the Amazon LE BD that has gone from #1 to outside the top 100 in less than two weeks. This results in wild swings as its initial estimates included very high per-day average points thanks to the thousands of points it got at #1. As those #1 days fell out of the rolling 7 day average, the new seven day average (and thus new estimate) was being calculated based on far smaller per-day points totals. This is why you should just disregard estimates entirely for a good 5-7 days after a title that solicited at #1 starts showing estimates. (Assuming it’s not still ranking extremely high of course.)

The DVDs have experienced significant drops as well as they settle into more realistic rankings, but the numbers there start much lower so the absolute effect is small.

        • rederoin says:

          >so it’s dropped by half since Gatmar took the numbers on 8/02 as those #1 days dropped out of the estimates.

Just wanted to point out he got them from here, http://rederoin.motionsforum.com/t346-summer-estimates-v2

But OT, yes, symphogears drop was expected. Also a big shame about NNB. All I can hope is that overlord gets a big enough boost for 10k average.

          • something something says:

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. Just a note to everyone, please link a source when copying any sort of data analysis from another site. Always useful to be able to go back to the source and see if any amendments or updates have been made, and know more about how they did it (and just giving them credit is good too!).

            • Gatmar says:

My bad Rederoin….i meant no disrespect just wanted to share the info..il make sure to include your source of info … with no problems.

    • Zhou says:

That’s odd, I thought Prison School’s estimates would actually go up after they confirmed the BDs will be uncensored. I’m just as disappointed to see Working!!!’s estimates go down, because this has been a great season so far, with some surprising progress on the character relationship front.

      • Marco says:

It shouldn’t really matter as much. You already got your complete adaptation so you don’t need to hope for great sales for another season or something.

        • something something says:

But if you enjoy something, you still want it to see financial success. In part because then you’ll get more like it (whether sequels or similar series) but also because it’s good when people are rewarded for creating a good thing, because then they can afford to keep creating the things they want to create.

        • Zhou says:

Has there been any official confirmation that this will be the final season of the Working!! anime or are people just assuming it because the manga recently ended with volume 13? As far as I know, the current season is still covering material from volume 9, so it doesn’t seem likely that it will get to the end of the manga in just 8 more episodes.

        • Zhou says:

OK, I just compared the latest Working!!! episode (6) to its corresponding manga chapters, and it turns out the anime is already over halfway through volume 10. It looks like it will get to the end of the manga after all, which makes me happy. Sure, they could have squeezed a fourth season out of it if they covered the last 6 volumes at a slower pace like the previous seasons did, but that would have been risky, especially considering these latest pre-order estimates.

    • Melina says:

Considering it seems most people are buying the game+anime bundle versions for God Eater instead of the anime-only versions, I guess the actual sales for God Eater are most likely more than 2k.

      • something something says:

Interesting, so the game comes bundled with v1? That could certainly make a difference.

That said, the other volumes are ranking as badly or worse, so unless they also have game bundles, we shouldn’t expect the bundle to be a huge factor.

        • something something says:

Oh! I found info on it: http://gematsu.com/2015/06/god-eater-resurrection-japanese-release-date-set-debut-trailer

Basically, it’s G4U with God Eater characters? Haha uh, this is not the franchise I expected to follow the G4U model (I know Bamco and all but still). I guess I’ll have to do the same thing as with Animas. Average will be:
(vol 1-7 standalone average) + (v2-7 “Offshoot” average)

I need to exclude the v1+game bundle because it actually comes with a full game (making the anime of secondary importance) and thus isn’t fair to include in the anime sales, while the v2+ bundles are just like G4U, basically an expensive LE of the anime with a minigame packed in. By counting Offshoot and standalone averages separately, I avoid penalizing v1 for having its bundle excluded.

          • rederoin says:

You can also buy the game without the anime though, which I believe its cheaper. The Game + anime BD does not seem to be ranking that well compared to the game itself.

            • something something says:

For vol 1? I probably still wouldn’t count it, because the main attraction of the vol 1 bundle is the game, not the anime. Average is cleaner if I skip it. Will count the v2+ G(odeater)4U releases, tho

              • rederoin says:

Oh, I understand why you are not counting it. Just pointing out it also had a version that did not have the anime included(100k yen for the version that includes v1), going by what Hpulley linked me.

  5. 37 says:

Shokugeki sold better than I expected.

    • a nony mous says:

Any reason for the horrendous SnS sales? Afaik the general consensus is that it has been a good and faithful adaptation of the manga, and the manga already has a solid fan base. The manga didn’t receive any significant anime boost too I believe?

      • Ejc says:

Usual reasons for discs selling poorly…

        1. Does not have the rewatchable factor.
        2. Was not enjoyable.
        3. Did not fulfill the majority of the other strict criteria (music, seiyuu performance, story, pace, BGM, sakuga, characters, etc) Japanese fans have when assessing whether to buy it or not.
        4. All those factors were fulfilled, but there were other anime that scored the buy over it, since fans only have a limited amount of money every season to buy anime.

      • primadog says:

Manga and anime buying audience don’t always intersect. The niche of people that would drop some $400 on a single anime season is very small. Jump shows rarely hurt from missing that audience.

      • Tsunayoshi Sawada says:

I think its sales remained stable with not a dramatic boost.

If we use its copies in circulation number reported by the magazine then it went from

        4600000 copies | 10 volumes + 2 novels | [ 12/26/2014 ]
        6750000 copies | 13 volumes | 6/15/2015
        7700000 copies | 14 volumes | 8/1/2015

I just hope they keep animating it, though since the series isnt anywhere near ending then I doubt itll ever get a full adaptation :(

  6. Tsundere Jesus says:

Are these Shokugeki no soma sales good? I don’t know how many these are usually supposed to sell.

    • Progeusz says:

SnS’ BD/DVD numbers barely matter. What’s important, is boost to manga sales.

    • Claasic says:

They’re pretty bad IMO but as progeusz said the manga sales are much more important as the anime is pretty much just an advertisement for the manga

      • something something says:

The Souma committee looks like it’s:
        Warner Brothers
        Shueisha
        Klockworx
        Showgate
        Dentsu
        MBS

Good for Shueisha if the manga does well, not amazing for Warner if thre DVD/BDs do poorly, though whether they’re *just* getting DVD/BD money or some other arrangement, I dunno.

    Should be 82 weeks.

    • something something says:

I’m really not going to remember to fix that every week, dunno why it’s wrong on urisure all the time after being right for so long

  10. something something says:

  11. anon says:

How much OverLord v1 is going to sell?

    • something something says:

Release is still a month and a half away, but it’s estimated at 6,207 v1wk1 right now.

The main question is whether sales are Amazon-biased due to the exclusive artbox. It’s rankings outside of Amazon are decent but not great, so I can’t really guess how much of the 6k estimate (which will go up or down depending on how it ranks going forward) is real.

There isn’t an event ticket in v1 as far as I see in the Amazon product description and v2+ are tracking close-ish to v1 so if it does do well for v1, the drop shouldn’t be sharp for later volumes.

      • Siliziumleben says:

But isn’t the Amazon Box just a Box for the novels which come with the BDs/DVDs? I think it mentions that in the description. I don’t know if that is such a great bonus which inflates the Amazon-bias so much.

        • something something says:

Looks like that’s what it is, yeah. I have no idea if this would be less or more of an incentive for people to shop at Amazon than a normal box though.

I don’t think it’ll be *heavily* Amazon biased, no. But it could be somewhat biased (or not at all, this is rarely predictable).

  12. jyo says:

Owari no Seraph v2 total is wrong, or you get the wrong number for the DVD ?

    • something something says:

…I have no idea where that DVD number in my spreadsheet came from That’s bizarre. Fixed.

Edit: Oh, no, wait, it was right. That 280 DVDs in wk2 was from the extended rankings (discs that didn’t make the top 100 for the week). I didn’t realize this comment was on lack week’s post and got confused heh.
