Spring update:
Utapri s3 v1 sells 31157/18120, total 49,277. Event ticket… obviously! Figured it would hit 50k first week (100% underestimate) and that’s just about what it did. Underestimated 67.9% on DVD, 106.0% on BD. Utapri lets you see the shift towards BD among women. s1 (2011) ended up 41% BD. s2 (2013) was 57%. s3 (2015) opens at 63% BD and while v1wk1 ratio is not exactly the same as the final ratios, it’ll be fairly close.

Etotama v5 sells 683 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Kekkai Sensen v1 adds 489/268, total 20,128. DVDs from extended ranking, putting it over 20k.

Oregairu s2 v1 adds 1147/261, total 12,886. DVDs from extended.

Show By Rock v1 adds 656/229, total 9,483. DVDs from extended.

Euphonium v1 adds 940 BDs, total 8,776. That’s 86% as much as it added in wk2, despite continuing stock problems. v1 came back in stock on Amazon in the last 12 hours (originally listed for the 9th) after being previously restocked on the 6th after a few days only being available from third party sellers. This one is funny in that there were no major stock issues at release, but it came out before the final episode aired and has been doing very well since. It even made the dailies in its 19th and 20th days of release last week. With another restock in place (how long it holds is another question), and needing 1.2k to reach 10k, I’d say 10k is pretty possible with, say, 3-4 more weeks of ranking. Maybe 600 next week plus 2-3 weeks of the extended rankings. Sooner if next week is really big again. Obviously this is totally ignoring the unknown number of sales at the KyoAni shop, which for all we know has already put it over 10k, but oh well, we can only speculate there. v2 is on track for more Stalker points than v1 so the event ticket effect, while non-zero, will probably be small. OST continues to do strangely well, it held at #11 for days among all music on Amazon and for the last day has been in the top 10. Could be a very rare case where it outsells the OP or ED if it’s not just absurdly Amazon biased.

Kinmosa s2 v1 adds 602/148, total 6,707. DVDs from extended.

Owari no Seraph v1 adds 354/444, total 6,582. Stacking on a bit more event ticket boost. BDs from extended.

Nisekoi s2 v1 adds 485/285, total 6,045. DVDs from extended.

Danmachi v1 adds 487/162, total 5,784.

Plasmemo v1 adds 458 BDs, total 3,059.

Winter update:
Saekano v5 sells 6245/669, total 6,914.

Kamimashita s2 v3, final volume, sells 1167/741, total 1,908. Series average: 1,649. Down a lot from the 3.1k of s1, and at a lower overall MSRP too.

Deremas v2 adds 849 BDs, total 26,703. There’s no real hope of the G4U beating Media Create thresholds for a wk2 if v1 couldn’t, so this will continue to be a very front-loaded series considering we’ll only ever get wk1s for G4U.

Kancolle v4 adds 2042/478, total 15,325. Made up a bit of the ground lost in wk1 but still a bigger drop than v2>3.

Kurobas s3 v3 adds 1416/1572, total 14,139. Better wk2 than v2 but still down 23.5% on v2wk2’s total. Now it might be anyone’s game between this and Kancolle for #2 of the season, if this drop holds for the remaining volumes.

Jojo s3 v3 adds 669 BDs, total 8,796.

Aldnoah s2 v4 adds 389 BDs, total 5,551.

Dog Days s3 v4 adds 414 BDs, total 4,665.

Shinmai Maou v4 adds 481 BDs, total 4,492.

Past seasons:
SAO II v8, final volume, adds 1345/395, total 17,758. Series average: 20,096. Gets that 20k with the help of the mid-year series-based additions. 19.4k without them, so it’d end up a bit short otherwise.

Kimiuso v5 adds 467 BDs, total 8,217.

G Reco v7 adds 554 BDs, total 7,106.

Amaburi v7, final volume, adds 576 BDs, total 6,189. Series average: 6,732.

Crossange v7 adds 484 BDs, total 5,192.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Strike Witches OVA v1 adds 382 BDs, total 21,185. Week 16, it got a late bump due to a heavy 65% discount on Amazon.

Shin Tenipri OVA v5, final volume, adds 374/744, total 5,450. Series average: 6,645.

Gintama BD Box v4 adds 522, total 6,852.

Angel Beats BD Box adds 795, total 6,813. #59 on the BD-box list by gross.

  1. some1 says:

    Oregairu S2 total?

  2. natapori says:

It mean Free! beat SAO2 with average sell of Summer Season 2015? I’m glad to see that.I knew it not fair to compare because Free! has even ticket boost on vol 2-3 and SAO2 not event ticket.

  3. Anon says:

Arpeggio’s recap movie sells 11765/760, total 12,525. Still staying strong.

    • Progeusz says:

Nice, close to what the series did, even if it was overestimated. I wonder how will second movie sell.
Non Non Biyori is another show making a come back, storming top100 right now.
Also good to see Hibike performing well, I didn’t expect possibility of 10k not too long ago but now it’s basically obvious.
Finally good things are happening. All hail Aria bringing hope in every possible way.

  4. NukaCola says:

wonder if UtaPri can add at least 20K more. Was hoping it could surpass UtaPri2. Oh well, s4 already confirmed so I guess its sales dont matter that much.

    • something something says:

Its sales matter a lot. It’s just that they’re STILL REALLY HIGH so that’s why they’ll keep making more, lol.

It doesn’t need to outsell s2 to be a huge, huge success so even getting close would be a big deal.

    • Ejc says:

Just with Vol.2 having an event ticket as well, the S3 average should be really close to S2, because even if the average drops by like 5K, the increase in Vol.2 sales will make up most of that drop anyway.

It seems to be the female oriented counterpart of Love Live, looking at its big BD/DVD sales, music sales, live concert disc sales, game sales, etc. I expect it to continue pulling impressive numbers but I am surprised it hasn’t gotten a rhythm mobile game yet as Love Live got in 2013. I also expect it to get a movie version eventually and enjoy a bigger boost as we’ve seen with LL’s movie single sales.

Although, Love Live isn’t really male oriented at all when we look at the fanbase, since it seems to have a significant female fanbase if we look at to just name a few…

      ● the 52:48 male:female player ratio for the mobile game
      ● popularity amongst females in their teens, 20s and 30s, there was a news article last year on this (https://twitter.com/akokotoliver/statuses/502579970997514240). The headline reads, “Idol anime Love Live!, popular with females, adapted to a game and a movie”.
      ● merchandise specifically aimed at females such as high heels, collaboration with female clothing brands, collaboration with HELLO KITTY, etc.
      ● features in some teenage girl magazines

I’m not quite sure what the male:female ratio is for UtaPri, but it would be impressive if it was close to equal.

      • something something says:

The one way Utapri s3 definitely beats s2 would be if it goes triple event ticket. 1, 2, and maybe the last vol? That would be huge. Might even be enough to put it over UBW too. It’d be, uh, not quite a fair comparison, but then comparing sales between series is almost entirely useless these days.

  5. 37 says:

Not a surprise that utapri sold pretty much 50k in the first volume. IIRC s2 vol 1 sold like 61k with the event ticket. Wonder how much it’s going to drop though.

    • something something says:

      s2v1 sold 54,460 wk1 and 65,465 total.

So with 49,277 wk1, s3v1 is on track for lower, but not immensely so. A lot rides on wk2, where s2v1 added 9,178. wk3 was under 2k and then it never ranked again, so next week is the decider.

  6. makotachi says:

Ahhhhh, those sales numbers for UtaPri make me so happy! I’m also glad to see Kuroko getting a nice second week, but I would have liked to see bigger sales for this season. It completely blew the past two out of the water, oh well! They’re still good numbers!

  7. something something says:

So Deremas v2 G4U did get a wk2… but only on Famitsu, so I can’t use it. Aw.

But there’s other potentially very good news for Deremas G4U! I hadn’t seen Media Create Yearly Top 1000 lists anywhere since 2011 or 2012, so I assumed we’d never get them for 2015 and thus never get beyond wk1 sales for G4U.

But someone just posted the 2014 Top 1000 on NeoGAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1076342 and that gives me hope that we’ll get the same for 2015 eventually.

Now that’ll only cover v1-7 (assuming no more delays), with v8 coming out in late December and probably out of the reporting period, while v9 will be at best January 2016.

So, technically, we might not know Deremas’ final average until, um, whenever the 2016 Top 1000 comes out, Which if 2014 is any indication may be July 2017. Uhhh, I guess this teaches the value of patience? Actually hell am I even going to remember to check two years from now?? Probably not.

Granted the gains in the 2016 Yearly will be fairly small, and would affect the average by less than a thousand units, but I can see G4U easily adding 2-3k from the v1-7 numbers in the 2015 Yearly. (Animas additions were on average 3.4k for G2U after wk1). Unless Media Create’s thresholds are just super high and the wk2+ data misses even their full cutoffs.

  8. something something says:

    Updated with the full rankings.

  9. something something says:

  10. rederoin says:

    R.I.P KM S3, S2v1 sold lower than A-channel v1.

    • something something says:

It’s higher than where A-Channel v1 was after 2 weeks, and is easily going to end up higher before it’s done ranking. It’ll end up a bit over 7kv1, without the artbox boost Kinmosa s1v1 got. But that’s not the only important consideration anyway. Depends how v2+ hold up, and on so many other things.

Not that I particularly expect a third season anyway. It does well but not well enough to justify that even if it drops very little from v1. There’s plenty of other franchises to try to adapt and find new hits with.

  11. Ejc says:

    > 300 50,783 78 Love Live! μ’s→NEXT LoveLive! 2014 ~Endless Parade~
    229 42,433 36 Love Live! μ’s 3rd Anniversary LoveLive!

For Endless Parade it should be 50 weeks rather than 78. For the 3rd Anniversary, it should be 78 weeks rather than 36 weeks.

Onto the topic of the LL live concerts, it is really strange that the 5th concert has not even been solicited with the 4th concert having charted for almost 52 consecutive weeks. The 4th concert was released 8 months after the 3rd concert… so something must be going wrong with Bandai Visual/Lantis.

I noticed major stock problems with Lantis releases on Amazon, as the 1st LL movie single will be restocked on July 17, the 2nd one only has reseller stock, and the 3rd one to be released on July 15 had only reseller stock on July 12! The Best Live collection II (only the 9996 yen LE is left) only managed to reach around 120K before it reached reseller stock status. Best Live collection I only has the RE left, also having reached reseller status. Even the most recent KADOKAWA Ascii Media Works x Dengeki G’s magazine LL single has reached reseller status in less than 3 months on sale.

These Lantis stock issues are relevant for Hibike fans, because the OST is being handled by them. This is probably partly the reason for the major stock issues of the OST, in addition to the increased demand after the finale of the anime. Lantis just seems to struggle with keeping things in stock, and I think having 3x 100K+ sellers in 3 consecutive weeks was the breaking point for them.
