The new Tuesday animation 20 means a lot more prelim list wk2 data in slow weeks.

Summer update:
Jinsei v1 sells 1593/362, total 1,955. That’s with super low price v1 and an event ticket, so this one is toast.

Kuroshitsuji s3 v1 adds 522/717, total 8,761.

Spring update:
Black Bullet v3 sells 1778/459, total 2,237.

Kawaisou v3 sells 1526/367, total 1,893. Basically no drop from v2.

Dragonar v3 sells 817/294, total 1,111. So at least one volume slips in a DVD number, might save it from the ignominy of a 3 digit average.

Haikyuu v1 adds 297 DVDs, total 32,772 in wk8, meaning it added 345 in wk7.
v2 adds 558/790, total 26,619.

Love Live! s2 v2 adds 503, total 53,135.
v3 adds 4096, total 45,578.

Jojo SC v2 adds 880/374, total 13,008. Considering v1 didn’t get a wk2 on DVD, this is almost exactly on par with v1. So while it may have dropped a lot from s1, perhaps it’ll be pretty consistent.

Mahouka v2 adds 892/352, total 12,449. That’s 0.1% ahead of v1’s wk4 total now, thanks to the v2 event ticket.

Gochiusa v3 adds 813 BDs, total 9,950. Was hoping it could hit 10k this week, but smaller wk1 than v1-2. Still, a lock for next week. It’s realllllllllly borderline for a 10k average, but it’s still maybe, maybe possible.

Nogenora v3 adds 667, total 7,858. Still doing well, but I hope it levels out around here and maintains an 8k average.

Mekakushi v5 adds 523/530, total 6,944. Finally drops a bit in its wk2s, but the stronger wk1 means only 3.5% drop on v4.

Date A Live II v3 adds 723 BDs, total 5,735.

Past seasons:
Kill La Kill v8 adds 460 BDs, total 10,023 in wk5, meaning it added 165 in wk4. Bit of a bump from the final volume.
v9, final volume, sells 9797/2013, total 11,810. That’s already the second best selling volume, slightly ahead of v2’s total. Series average: 10,972, so 11k is a lock next week.

Nourin v6, final volume, sells 1563/330, total 1,893. Series average: 2,357.

Z/X v6, final volume, sells 457/555, total 1,012. Series average: 881.

Wizard Barristers v3 sells 464 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Kurobas s2 v8 adds 763/893, total 15,711. The increased wk1 offset by one of the smaller wk2s, like with v5.

Strike The Blood v8, final volume, adds 389 BDs, total 6,214. Series average: 5,880.

Nisekoi v6 adds 379 BDs, total 5,164. Average is 5,879 with one to go.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi Movie adds 832/1265, total 10,052.

SoraOto Final adds 541 BDs, total 5,797.

AnoNatsu BD Box adds 378, total 2,881.

Great, Haikyuu!! volume 1 sales, 32.772, surpassed Free! volume 1 sales, 32.747.
It would be really cool if Haikyuu!! could surpass Free! in average sales and become the number 1 sport anime in sales.

      something says:

      At the moment, we have:
HQ v1: 32,772 wk8, event ticket (more or less final, will add small amounts at most)
      HQ v2: 26,619 wk3, event ticket
HQ v3: not yet released, no event ticket (stalker’s estimate is 1/3rd lower than v2, real data may have them closer)

      For comparison to Free s1:
      Free v1: 32,747 wk6 (final)
      Free v2: 33,315 wk3, event ticket (final)
      Free v3: 31,379 wk3, event ticket (final)

So basically Haikyuu v1 is right on par with Free v1, but that with Haikyuu having an event ticket in the volume, and Free not.

Meanwhile Free v2 is significantly higher than Haikyuu v2 should be able to get (figure ~28k for Haikyuu v2, a 5k gap).

And Haikyuu is set to drop (though it’s very unclear how much) for vol. 3, as the event tickets run out, meaning it should have large gap with Free v3, potentially as large as 10k.

Haikyuu is a smashing success for damn sure, but comparing just v1 to v1 is misleading here. It would take a huge surprise in the later volumes for it to get near a 29k average.

Haikyuu will very likely end with a higher average than Free s2, though.

      • Bob says:

And compare to Kuroko no Basket, how good did Haikyuu ?

Since both came from the Weekly Shonen Jump, I think it’s a better comparaison than with Free.

        • something
          something says:

Haikyuu v1 has already exceeded all Kurobas volumes except s1v8, which got a huge boost and sold 34,337. Kurobas s1 averaged 24,459 and s2 should average between 18-20k.

Haikyuu could definitely beat Kurobas s2, but I’m not convinced it’ll beat s1.

Honestly it’s very hard to make precise guesses about Haikyuu so far, because all we’ve seen so far are the two event ticket volumes. Everything depends on what sort of event ticket drop there is. If there’s basically no drop from v2→v3+, then heck it’d be within a couple thousand of Free. If v3+ drop to a bit under 20k per volume, then it’s between the Kurobas seasons somewhere.

        • Tiago says:

Manga wise it managed to boost more than kuroko already, and is still rising consistently.

In that sense is a bigger success.

  2. rederoin says:

Just did a few calculations as how consistent JoJo needs to be for it to get a 10k average(yay for arbitrary numbers). If from now on it drops by 6% per volume(on average) it will get an average of 10,018. This ofcourse does not include the wk3/4 of JoJo p3, but I don’t think it’ll have that much of an affect if I did include them.

So for the remaining borderline 10k hits of spring, I’m thinking that Jojo has the best shot, followed by Gochiusa and then Mahouka.

  3. mk03 says:

    >Love Live! s2 v3 adds 4096, total 45,578
    50k soon?

Ha, that’s what you get, Toei, for cheaping out with Kai. Especially this Buu arc, where you barely removed any filler.
