Spring update:
Mekakushi v3 adds 237 BDs, total 8,440 in wk4, meaning it added 182 in wk3. Now this volume is VERY close to v2, only down 3.5%. [Edit: Okay just saw the monthly rankings, v2 added some more so v3 is now down 8.3% over the same number of weeks actually.]
v4 sells 3204/2531, total 5,735. Could be a good bit of a drop this volume but as usual it depends on how wk2 does. This is actually the Kagerou Days volume. With v3 getting a ~400 boost from returning to the rankings, the v2→v3 drop looks a lot smaller, which could make the v3→v4 drop look bigger. Such is the fickleness of thresholds.

Love Live! s2 v1 adds 1072, total 113,358.
v2 adds 864, total 51,330. Down 54.7% on v1.

Haikyuu!! v1 adds 349/437, total 31,357 in wk5.

Jojo s2 v1 adds 320 BDs, total 13,180.

Mahouka v1 adds 275 BDs, total 12,436 in wk4 meaning it added 362 in wk3.

Gochiusa v2 adds 236 BDs, total 11,168. Only down 7.6% from v1 now. Hoping for that nearly 10k opening week for v3. The more sales it can rack up with v1-2 ticket and v3 artbox the better, to make up for what may be a modestly steep v4-6 drop.

Nogenora v2 adds 240 BDs, total 8,705. Down 12.5% on v1.

Black Bullet v2 adds 214 BDs, total 2,630. down 17.5% on v1.

Winter update:
Hoozuki v6, final volume, sells 4753/3989 A ver and 991/767 B ver, total 10,500. Series average 13,780. wk2 should take it to about a 14k average.

RGZ v3, final volume, adds 246 BDs, total 1,851. Series average: 1,915.

Noragami v6, final volume, sells 1462/1069, total 2,531. Series average: 4,088, or a little over 4.1k if it ranks next week.

Past seasons:
Kill La Kill v8 adds 541 BDs, total 9,169. 10.7k average with one volume to go.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Garupan OVA adds 699 BDs, total 44,181 in wk4.

K BD Box adds 413, total 2,104.

  1. fourteenwings says:

All things considered, an okay sendoff for Noragami.

  2. Mikhail says:

Thanks for chart, but why so many mistakes this time?

Hoozuki no Reitetsu is v6, not v1

Majo no Takkyuubin week sales are 628, not 8228

    • something something says:

Not sure if two is “so many” but mostly because these come out at literally 3-4AM my time (depending on daylight savings), at which point I have generally had 2-4 hours of sleep! I’m still not sure how I even hear my alarms…

  3. Anon says:

And then Hoozuki becomes the worst Winter best seller in the last 6 years.

Not complaining though, I’m glad Hoozuki did fine, it was a fun show.

  4. Clotho says:

Wonder how Baby Steps will do, dont think it had any noticeable manga bump at all.

    • something something says:

Well it’s a DVD only release and the Stalker estimate is 342, so… unless it’s got some storefront strength it’s questionable if it’ll even rank.

  5. rederoin says:

Its kinda tricky to predict how good MCA will do, but since it has been dropping every single volume now, I think we can assume it’ll keep doing so. So if we with a 9(v2 -> v3)-13%(v3 -> v4) drop per volume, I think we’ll end up with an average of roughly 5k-6k.

    Mekaku City Actors

    82% frontloaded

    v1 – 11.4k
    v2 – 8.8k
    v3 – 8.0k
    v4 – 7.0k
    v5 – 6.1k
    v6 – 5.3k
    v8 – 4.6k
    v9 – 4.0k
    v10 – 3.5k
    v11 – 3.0k
    v12 – 2.6k
    Average – 5.4k

    • something something says:

I think it’ll level out eventually. Maybe by vol 7 or 8? I don’t think it’ll go below 4k volumes (unless wk2s stop ranking) but who knows, a disc every two weeks is pretty brutal, especially if you’re a teenager with limited money. So it may well keep dropping.

  6. Anon says:

Do you know how will Wixoss and Ping Pong do?

    • something something says:

Since neither one is expected to be storefront heavy, the best bet is to just look at the Stalker estimates.

      Wixoss (Box 1 of 3) – 5,698
      Ping Ping (Box 1 of 1) – 2,779

Which is better than I would have guessed for either one. They could be overestimated. Boxsets sometimes are. I especially think Wixoss could be somewhat overestimated, because it was classified as a normal priced item despite the ¥13k MSRP and did not get the boxset points penalty. So it could either be a little overestimated or a lot overestimated.

Ping Pong is very borderline in terms of being able to rank on DVD. BD only prediction is 2,413.

  7. AnimePhoenix says:

Hopefully Noragami gets an ok second week. Still hoping for a season 2 after that great manga boost…

P.S Seems KyoAni has finally sorted out the stock problems(?) with High Speed! 2 as its been ranking for three weeks now and is at nearly 22k.

  8. something something says:

    Updated for the full ranking.

Ranking summary to follow probably tomorrow.

  9. hpulley says:

113K LL S2 V1 reported, more sold. Only 74K concert seating available. Some who bought 25+ copies say they failed to win the right to buy a concert ticket in the lottery. Ouch… I would be very sad if that were me. Effective bonus, very much oversold. They should have bought 100 copies I guess, even that would be no guarantee.

    • mk03 says:

At this rate they might have to have a second day or something.

      • something something says:

It’s a lottery, by definition not everyone gets in. The seating to discs bought ratio was even worse for the Utapri event, because they picked a much too small venue (17k seats) then sold 65k discs. They’re not looking to have a seat available for every person who buys the discs, because you have all the people buying multiple plus all the people who want the disc but wouldn’t be able to attend anyway.

      • hpulley says:

It already has two days! January 31 and February 1. Interestingly you had to apply for which day you wanted so it is possible that one day is completely sold out while the other has some left.
