Spring update:
Jojo v1 sells 9946/2165, total 12,111. Far below s1v1wk1’s 19,370 (down 37.4%). Compared to s1v9 the drop is 13.4%. v2 has an event ticket which could means no v2 drop, then it’s up to how vols 3 through presumably 12 do. It could still average 10k, though even that would be a nearly 50% drop on season one.

Brynhildr sells 1,947 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Being released in two boxsets so just one to go.

SE NOT sells 408 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Yeah kinda as expected.

Nogenora v2 sells 6404/1371, total 7,775. Only a 7.9% drop on v1wk1 which had an event ticket, but v2 has an event ticket too, so let’s keep an eye on how v3 fares. Hoping for a big wk2-3 so v2 can hit 9k.

Puchimas!! v3, final volume, sells 3,140 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Series average: 3,237. Assuming another 300 next week, increase that by 100. Down by ~42% on s1, but since s2 had none of s1s extras and those were the big draw, this isn’t bad at all for a short.

KasmiAsobi v2 sells 1509/2006, total 3,515. Down 47.1% on v1wk1, so the huge event ticket drop expected is here.

Love Live v1 adds 1290, total 111,259.
v2 adds 7299, total 49,164.

Haikyuu v1 adds 689/805 DVDs, total 29,665. No 30k this week, but probably next week!

Gochiusa v1 adds 323 BDs, total 12,090 in wk7. 12k get!
v2 adds 1263 BDs, total 10,405. Two volumes over 10k, fantastic. This is better than v1’s wk2 total even taking into consideration that v1 ranked on DVD in wk2 while v2 did not. v1 added 2k from wk3+ though, v2 won’t add that much. But v3 is looking to be quite strong too, so we miiiiight get three volumes over 10k before it drops in v4.

Mahouka v1 adds 1076/411, total 11,799.

Mekakushi v3 adds 698/816 DVDs, total 8,021. The strangest thing about a release that has many many strange characteristics is the strong consistency in wk2 sales despite the non-consistency in wk1 sales! This also means the event ticket drop from v2 to v3 is only 8.3%, which is to say literally no event ticket drop (or, the drop happened in v1→v2 with the 23% drop). So the event ticket does not seem like it was much of a factor, which is bizarrrrrrrre, given the musical origins of the series. So can it hold steady at these levels for v4+? If so it could average upwards of 8k.

Date A Live II v2 adds 910 BDs, total 6,068.

Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta is a one-shot DVD/BD box of the whole season and does not rank in either format.

Winter update:
D-Frag! v5 sells 1,981 BDs, DVDs do not rank. One to go, will average about 2.5k.

Imocho v5 sells 1,144 BDs, DVDs do not rank. One more for this as well, looking at a 1.2-1.3k average, with only BDs ranking.

Nobufool v5 sells 472 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Nisekoi v5 adds 549 BDs, total 5,129. With two volumes to go it should end up just short of 6k unless something in the last volume gives it a boost.

WCW v5 adds 389 BDs, total 3,995. One volume to go, about 4.2k average.

WUG v5 adds 368 BDs, total 2,159. One more to go, 2.5-2.6k average.

Past seasons:
Litbus Refrain v7, final volume, sells 6879/1276, total 8,155. Series average: 9,233 and probably 9.3k when it’s done ranking. Should be slightly less than a 10% drop on season one which is quite good! Unless you’re one of the people who thinks the EX episodes should have boosted sales. Personally, I think they did, which is why this is dropping so little.

Strike the Blood v7 sells 4400/1012, total 5,412. Up slightly on v6wk1, continuing this series’ consistency.

Log Horizon v7 sells 2965/755, total 3,720. Same comment as StB, up slightly and still crazy consistent. Only 8.5% below v1 and from v3+ no vol has been more than 2.5% off from the previous.

Monogatari v9 adds 306 BDs, total 39,707 in wk6.
v10 adds 2317/541, total 38,389. Decent sized second week keeps the consistency going.

Kurobas v7 adds 1515/1793, total 16,133. Smack in the middle of wk2s, not the big 2k+ in each format wk2s of other vols with lower wk1s tho, so this vol might drop a little bit, at least 10% I’d think.

NagiAsu v8 adds 356 BDs, total 3,163. One more to go, probably 3.7k average.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Zoids New Century/Zero BD Box sells 3999/2531 LE/RE, total 6,530. Well below the first Zoids box which made an aburd amount of money, but still a lot for any BD box.

Raijin-ou BD Box sells 1,298.

Ikkitousen DD BD Box sells 519.

Garupan OVA adds 2952/666, total 42,355.

T&B Rising adds 293 LE BDs, total 38,367.

  1. AnimePhoenix says:

Kamigami no Asobi is vol 2, not volume 1.

  2. rederoin says:

    Regarding JoJo,

    If v3 trough v12 have a 8.8k average, it’ll probably stay at a 10k average. this is assuming its front-loaded by around 75%, like S1 was(meaning v1/2 will hit 16k).

  3. Nico says:

I’d say that JoJo’s drop is only natural given the amount of volumes. 24 volumes is insane.

  4. Nico says:

Ah, they’re doing doing 2 cours on 6 vols?

  5. something something says:

Updated for the full ranking, weekly ranking summary probably tomorrow.

    Go go Gochiusa.

  6. AnimePhoenix says:

KamiAso’s drop is actually not as bad as I expected it to be. If anything, if it can maintain this and say, reach 4k by its second week, that would be great.

  7. mk03 says:

    >SE NOT sells 408 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Yeah kinda as expected.
Sales probably don’t matter in this particular case though. Similar shows don’t really need high sales as they rely more on merchandise and ratings, right?

    • something something says:

Soul Eater Not is a late night anime, there are no ratings to speak of. The manga saw zero boost. I doubt it’s very popular in merchandise either, though we have no way of measuring that.

It’s just a dud on all fronts.

      • The manga having zero boost overall is still somewhat questionable at this point, just because the timing of the release of manga v4 coincided pretty closely with the airing of the first episode of the anime (which was the same case with some series that eventually showed manga bumps). It’s been zero to date, but enough people take time to buy manga that it could see a modest bump in v5’s numbers.

It would take a pretty huge bump to offset the poor disk numbers, though. The only way it really comes in as a plus is if Atsushi Ookubo decides not to jump ship from the Gangan family the way Hiromu Arakawa and Shinobu Ohtaka have in the past couple years. They really need to keep their senior artists long-term, especially the ones that have moved 10 million plus print volumes.

  8. Anon says:

    >Love Live v1 adds 1290, total 111,259.

    Wondering if it’ll reach 120K.

Also, Monogatari still stronk eh? I’m honestly surprised about its consistency given it was the first 2-cour Monogatari series, pretty happy about it considering how badly SHAFT shaft’d the novels here. Meanwhile, Hanamonogatari hasn’t left the top 50 since it’s been up for pre-orders and I wonder how big will be the boost after it airs.

    • something something says:

If you’re still buying Monogatari after 5 years and now 23 discs you’re probably not going to stop now, I guess. As for Hanamonogatari, I don’t expect it to sell much if any more than the other 2nd season discs, but it should be right on par, slightly more at best. It’s basically just vols 11-12 of the second season and sales will likely reflect that. Its Stalker predictions are right in line with the other second season volumes.

  9. Nico says:

Unless you’re one of the people who thinks the Refrain episodes should have boosted sales. Personally, I think they did, which is why this is dropping so little.

Think you mean EX instead of Refrain here!
