So I guess I totally forgot to do the ranking summary last week… oops. I’ll do it tonight or Friday.

Spring update:
n/a

Winter update:
Robot Girls Z v1 sells 866/211, total 1,077. Well uh at least it hit 4 digits?

Hoozuki v4 sells 5206/818 BDs, 4282/1043 DVDs, total 11,349. Continuing a steep decline each volume, but still on track for an easy 10k average. Currently 14.7k.

Noragami v4 sells 1633/1322, total 2,955.

Yakuindomo* v5 adds 283 BDs, total 3,624.

Nourin v3 adds 182 BDs, total 2,081.

Past seasons:
Monogatari v7 adds 238 BDs, total 40,276.
v8 adds 628 BDs, total 39,069.

Kurobas s2 v5 adds 206/242, total 18,147. 5 volumes in it’s still only 6.6% below v1 and 14% off peak (v3).

Infinite Stratos 2 v7, final volume, adds 227 BDs, total 13,672. Series average: 16,407.

Kill La Kill v6 adds 652/208, total 9,726. Probably won’t hit 10k until the monthlies.

Litbus Refrain v5 adds 160 BDs, total 8,782. Looks like this season should average at least 9k, so only a small drop from season one.

Kyoukai v6 adds 267 BDs, total 3,606.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Gundam UC v7, final volume, adds 8512/3827/7372, total 178,777. Getting closer to previous volumes now.

Madoka Hangyaku adds 350 LE BDs, total 179,858 in wk11.

Persona 3 #1 adds 971/283 LEs, total 37,286. It’s had some decent add-on sales, 40k is within reach.

Love Live! re-releasse adds:
v1 adds 254, total 5,014.
v2 adds 235, total 4,899.
v3 adds 231, total 4,946.
v4 adds 259, total 5,676.
v5 adds 246, total 6,400.
v6 adds 233, total 4,985.
v7 adds 209, total 4,377.
Average: 5,185

Tamayura OVA adds 863 BDs, total 3,347. That’s still a bit low compared to any of the TV volumes, when you factor in this had DVDs rank. If it could rank just once more…

  1. AnimePhoenix says:

Wow, Noragami v4wk1 is better than Noragami v3wk1! Volume 3 sold 2807 copies while volume 4 is at 2955 copies. I don’t think it had any special extra. Hopefully its week 2 is good as well.

Ah, next week, volume 1 of Isshuukan Friends is coming.

    • something something says:

Noragami v3 was a Thursday release, while v4 was a Tuesday release. Two extra days ought to be enough time to account for the “extra” 148 discs. So you’re right that it’s probably not extras-related.

That said, this still means it was very consistent regardless of whether it ends up above or below v3 in the end, so that’s good news for the show.

  2. Progeusz says:

    Arpeggio v6 adds 889/194, total 11,837. Series average 12,394.
Woohoo! The second week isn’t as bad as I feared. DVDs get wk2 data for the third time and BDs are already higher than v4 wk3. It’s third best selling volume.
634 left to 12.5k average. 631 left if rounded up. Next week should ~350 half of that and with ~200 in possible wk4 it will be very close. We’re gonna need a single boost from half-yearly or yearly data.

    • Progeusz says:

“~350 half of that” <- swap with "be ~350". That's what happens when you change your sentence few minutes after writing it.

  3. Anonymous says:

Wonder what’s this week and next week’s Sidonia v1 number, since it sold out in amazon at Sunday(next reship coming June 20)

  4. Zhou says:

It’s so good not to have to worry about Initial D’s sales anymore. Just one more volume to finish the whole thing off.

  5. Sandf5 says:

I think Robot Girls Z will chart for w2 it just breaks top 100 today on stalker

  6. something something says:

    Full list updated.

I’ll do the ranking summary, monthly ranking, and mid-year ranking tonight or tomorrow.

  7. mk03 says:

    >Oh lovely I get to see Sakura Trick and Akuma no Riddle sell horribly in the same week. Awesome. Can I just cancel next week’s rankings? Oh well at least there’s Gochiusa.

There there, there’s no need to be upset. Yuri flopping is not the end of the world. Sure they tanked, but at least you enjoyed them, right?
I remember feeling the same way with Tokyo Ravens, but I’ve since accepted it and moved on. I know you’re a big yuri fan, but I think it’s better if you just enjoy the shows without really caring much about how much they sell. Also, at least you always have yuri subtext shows to fall back on.

    • something something says:

Sales influence sequels, they influence whether similar shows get made in the future, and last but not least they’re how creators are compensated for the work they produce. I want to see creators find success when I enjoy their output. That’s the whole reason I spend about a thousand dollars a month on importing this kind of stuff.

So unfortunately, sales matter, a lot. Like, more than almost anything else. (This is sales in a broad sense of course, not just DVD/BD disc sales.)

And of course I still enjoy the shows regardless of how they sell. But I want to keep enjoying them into the future, which requires more to be made, which requires at least some minimum degree of financial feasibility.

  8. rederoin says:

Did you forget about Initial D final stage?

    • something something says:

I assumed it was an OVA.

      • Zhou says:

It’s only four episodes long, but it’s premiering on pay-per-view before the DVD release, just like Fourth Stage and Fifth Stage did. Personally, I consider all of these last three series OVAs, regardless of the episode count.
