Summer update:
Jashin-chan v1 sells 615 BDs, DVDs do not rank. This is an interesting case. It’s Amazon-exclusive and print-on-demand, and Oricon tracks Amazon, so in theory you’d expect full coverage of all sales made for this title – which might be the first time that’s ever happened. But, the official twitter account tweeted some weeks ago that they were at 800+ orders, and I’d expect that to be closing in on about 1k by now. So what’s the gap? DVDs are some of it, though even if they sold 149 and just missed (in which case I expect we’d have leaks), that’s still 764. Some could be cancelled discs, some could be discs that aren’t shipping this week (if held with other items) but it’s still curious. In any case, if you needed a millionth reminder that Oricon numbers are not 100% of sales, here you gp.

Free s3 v2 adds 276 DVDs, total 10,147.

Overlord s3 v1 adds 333 BDs, total 7,314,

Banana Fish v1 adds 521/270, total 7,286.

Revue Starlight v1 adds 557, total 5,106.

Cingeki s3 v3, final volume, adds 411 BDs, total 4,734. Series average: 4,939.

Hataraku Saibou v3 adds 210 DVDs, total 3,898.

Yume Oukoku v2 adds 198 DVDs, total 774.

Tokyo Ghoul s3 v5 sells 150 DVDs, BDs do not rank.

Persona 5 v5 adds 358 BDs, total 4,824.

SAO GGO v5 adds 348 BDs, total 4,617.

  1. Mk says:

Passed 7k for Banana Fish, nice. I hope for a average of 6k across the volumes, could be helped by what on-disc extras they decide to include for vols 3-4 (vol 4 may have the epilogue as an OVA).

  2. hispaniafer says:

So Jashin-chan Dropkick is not going to have another season, really far away of the 2k mark

    • something something says:

I still think the 2k threshold is a meaningless marketing stunt, but the latest tweet from the official account implies they’e at 1500.

      • Mami Kawada Lover says:

I thought what the staff meant was that they need 2k combined for both volumes? Or at least that’s the impression I got; if that were the case, it would make sense compared to focusing on V1 (when the numbers, no matter how you look at them, are off the mark at this point).

        • KurumiNightmare says:

Yeah its 2k for the combined so 1k for each vol which doesnt seem that hard achievable. But personnaly i speculate they had another season planned and this stunt is simply made to get thoose few extra BD-DVD sold…..

        • something something says:

If so that adds up much more easily, though I guess it seems like a weird way to count it. But I guess they wouldn’t be as worried about counting in averages.
